There's this improv group on campus called The Plastic Shatners that I desparately want to get involved with, but I don't know when they do try-outs and stuff.
Also, Rolling Stone named Shatner's latest album one of the fifty best of the year (further proving the quagmired state of music).

He ought to make a remix of him just yelling "KHAN!!" over and over. I'd buy it.

I don't think I've ever even watched an entire episode of Star Trek, but I bought that CD because of Folds' involvement and it is amazing. Musically, it's all over the board -- rock, pop, jazz, do-wop, spoken word, lounge electronica, country and western -- but it all works. Folds mangages to find eleven completely different but equally perfect uses for Shatner's voice, and Shatner seems to have discovered how to reign in his ham-factor and save it for moments when he is actually intentionally being hillarious. He also turns out to be a surprisingly talented lyricist.
I'd defintiely put it in my top ten of the year, right alongside AC Newman, Ratatat, the Futureheads and Franz Ferdinand. But I'm actually pretty surprised that it made any magazine's top fifty, since it's pretty oddball. But then, it has been a kind of slow year for truly great albums... plenty of GOOD stuff, but I'm not sure I can even think of any one disc outstanding enough to be named the year's best.
