Sonic CD Music

Post by smiths32 »

Just a couple of stuff you may or may not wish to add to the museum that I noticed weren't in the Sonic CD page regarding the different versions of music:

-The past songs the same for both versions of the soundtrack.

-When you race Metal Sonic in the original, the music playing is that of Stardust Speedway's bad future regardless of what time zone your are in, while in the Spencer Nilsen version, the music depends on whether Stardust Speedway's time (good or bad future).

-There is a final boss song in the original but it's just a run of the mill tune in the Spencer Nilsen version.

-I'm not too sure about this one, but in the original version, when you go to D.A Garden there is a song called "The Little Planet" I don't think this is in the NTSC and PC versions but I'd have to check.

-The original D.A Garden has no past tunes (which explains why there is no past artwork of the Little Planet) in the original, but does have in the Spencer Nilsen version.

They aren't really all that important, but since you included animals that could be found on certain zones I thought you may want to hear.

There is a "Little Planet" track in the Nilsen score, but it's basically Sonic Boom without vocals.

You may also want to put in your two cents on the time attack, especially since Sonic CD's save and Triple Trouble's doesn't...

Why didn't they put the Past songs into the Sound Test? I always wondered that...

It's the "D.A. Garden," the D.A. stands for Digital Audio, refering to the music that streams off the CD. No PCMs allowed, I guess.

Yeah, most of the Sonic CD songs are just regular audio tracks on the CD, but the past songs are not. I guess they didn't have room to fit all the music in that format.

That's also probably why the US version still has the original Japanese past music... replacing music embedded into the game track wouldn't be quite as straight forward as it would have been to replace the music stored on seperate CD audio tracks.

Why is it that EVERYTHING needs to be put in the Museum to you, man?

What if you find out that Sonic's penis is 9 inches long erect? Does that get its own wing?

That depends. How large, size-wise, do you envision wings of the Sonic Museum to be?

Why is it that EVERYTIME you see something that could potentially be added to the museum, you act like such a douche?

It involved the blue wavelengths of light getting refracted differently that the longer wavelengths. Towards the end of the day there is less refraction so the sky becomes more red. There is a more detailed explanation, but that is the bulk of what I can remember.

I never learned exactly why the sky is blue in school or anywhere.

I ought to look up some full detailing of it, just so I'll finally really know, instead of just "something about wavelengths" (which was my previous knowledge on the subject).

Yeah, I just know it has something to do with wavelengths and air molecules and maybe temperatures. Don't think temperatures though. My physics teacher explained it to me, I don't really remember most of it though.

I thought it was because they wanted to keep a theme going with the Past stages using "past" technology (MD's FM synth chip) to generate the music?

Doesn't the PC version have every track in CD audio and still fit?

What the? Do you seriously believe that?

If that were the case, the present stages would've played like a 16-bit videogame, the Future stages would've been in 128 bits, and the past stages would've been a maze printed on paper along with a pen.

All I know is that the past tracks weren't in the Sound Test on the Sega CD version. Beyond that, I'm clueless as usual.

That the Japanese game designers are crazy enough to consider it a viable excuse? Sure.
