British Horror!

Post by aso »

For the Brits out there, I'd like to know something about Gregory Horror Show. So far, I've only learned that it's apparently a budget-line game and that it's been marketed towards kids. I'd like to know, well, if the game is any good, and if it has any actual meat of 'horror'.

On the same vein, if anyone's heard of Dark Messiah/Hell Night and have played either version of this game, I'd like to hear about them, as well!

It's sort of Resident Evil for kids. It's not really horror at all. At most it gets 'thrilling' when a resident spots you and starts chasing you.

Yes, it's good. Yes, it was released budget.

Thanks for the info.

How long is it, exactly? I take it that it can't be too long or too difficult, given that it's aimed at kids? Any voice acting? Is said voice acting good or crappy?

On another note, I do not like Descartes.

It's not meant to be very long, although I never finished it, for some reason-- I think something else came along at the time and distracted me. It's definitely a fun, solid, intelligent game though. I wouldn't say it's "for kids", either-- it just has a sense of humour.

And it has pretty good voice-acting, actually. DOOO YOU KNOOW MY NAAAAAME?

Great! Going to be eBaying this one for sure, then.

No, I don't have anything more interesting to put in this space.

I guess I should try to grab that eventually, too. Speaking of obscure games, though, I discovered this super weird-looking Japanese PS2 game called Chulip, where apparently you play as a little alien (they seem to be popular protagonists as of late) and you have to run around performing good deeds and kissing people. I guess it's been out of print for a while, but it sounds neat, has anyone played it?

I went around kissing people once, but I wasn't really appreciated. ;_;

When is there going to be a Dark Shadows videogame? Geat show! It taught us that werewolves are the natural predator of Cthulu.

I've heard about Chulip. I think EGM or some other gaming rag had some brief coverage on it. If I ever get the bullparts up to actually getting into the import gaming scene beyond the Saturn, I'll have to hunt it down (and add it to the freakin' long list of games I have yet to play).

I heard Chulip was actually at E3 and supposedly coming to the US from Atlus or one of those other companies that sometimes does crazy (and appreciated) things like that. I don't know if it's really going to happen though.

Incidentally, though it sounds like a pun (Chu being the Japanese "kiss" sound) the flower "Tulip" really is called a "Chulip" in Japanese.
