Sega beats Nintendo to the punch... AGAIN.

Post by Psxphile »

First, they utilized the GC-GBA link before anyone else. Then they got the online component for Gamecube rolling with PSO (lot a good it did, though)

Now they expose the purpose of the DS's dual cart functionalitiy, with Feel The Magic XY/XX.

Eh? Pokemon Dash also is supposedly to utilize DS dual cart funtionality with Pokemon Emerald so I wouldn't say that Sega beat Ninty on using that feature.

However, Pokemon Dash is only a launch title in Japan and Emerald is only available there while Feel the Magic will be released on the 21st here.

With exception of the Gamecube modem, most of those functions have been used in gimmicky way. I'd like to see Sega use those features to do something worth while.

It's a shame that Sonic Team lost their imagination after becoming a Ltd company, otherwise we might have seen some really good ideas with the GBA-GC link up .

Dual Cart? I knew the DS has two screens, does it have to spots for cartridges or something? I haven't really been following it.

DS cards go on top. GBA carts go on bottom.

Why not just have one cart port? Also can this thing play all GB games or just the GBA games?

Because the carts aren't the same size or shape, stupid!

And only GBA games.

So that's why they remade the Pokemon games...

I wonder if they'll remake Gold and Silver, or Legend of Zelda Oracles. Since they were (in my opinion) the best games on the GBC.

It's Nintendo. They want you to buy a dozen different pieces of hardware that all play the same games.

The fact that the DS can't play GB or GBC games is one of the primary reasons I'm not getting it at launch.

Considering that the SP was perfectly fine with it, I don't see how hard it would've been to keep that functionality in tact for the DS. Especially considering the reason Nintendo's handhelds have always been so popular is because they have a huge library of games that already work on them.

What this means is that I'll have to lug around my DS and my SP on trips.

Of course, knowing Nintendo, in late 2005, they'll release the "Nintendo DS Deluxe" which can play all gameboy and DS games, and will problably fix a lot of other defects built into the DS on purpose in the first place.

Bastards.

Eh? Pokemon Dash also is supposedly to utilize DS dual cart funtionality with Pokemon Emerald so I wouldn't say that Sega beat Ninty on using that feature.
It's been confirmed that Dash works with all the GBA Pokemon games - Ru, Sa, Em, Fr, and Lg. Not just Emerald.

They just featured Emerald because they wanted people to buy the same game twice or more - again.

It's what's called a GB emulator game card for the DS. How many want to bet that one will be released?
