Photoshop masters...

...Would anyone like to explain how to add a watermark to photos in Photoshop? I just want plain text on some pictures is all. Also, is there any fast way to add said watermark to a batch of photos at once, or should I just go ahead and spend $30 on some software that will help me do that?

That shouldn't be a problem, just apply whatever text you want over the image then save it. When you add text, it automatically writes it on a seperate layer, so just be sure to flatten the image before saving it, or save it in a simple format which will flatten it automatically.

I believe there is a way to batch edit images, but I've only ever had it explained to me once and I never did it myself. You can probably find a tutorial for it online.

I'll explain this the best I can.
To batch, first make sure all the images are in a folder of their own, except one.
Now you have to record what to be done to the images. Go to <u>W</u>indow -> Show actions (if not already shown.)
-Then open one of the images you want the action applied to (the one that was left out from the main folder)
-Then click the New Action icon:
<img src="upload/files/PSActionsNew.jpg">
-Now the New Action box will come up, pretty obvious what to do here.
<img src="upload/files/PSNewA.jpg">
-Press Record () and then do what you want to the image that you want to be done to all the images. Everything you do will be Recorded for the new action. (Include the Save command if you like).
-When you're done, press the stop (■) button in the Actions window.
-Go to <u>F</u>ile -> A<u>u</u>tomate -> <u>B</u>atch...
<img src="upload/files/PSBatch.jpg">
-Choose the source and destination folders (use the same folder if you want to save over the originals).
-Press OK and the action will be applied to all images in that folder.

If the images are different sizes (dimentions), then batching might not work, you may have to do each one manually.

Btw, if you want the Watermark to be transparent, make it on a new layer then adjust the opacity of the layer in the layers window.

Huzzah! Thanks, awesomes.

And no, I never buy software. :D My dad, an Abe-Lincoln typa guy in a world of pirates, still paid full price for a copy of XP Pro even though I offered him a "cheap" ;p copy. Whatever floats his boat.

Eww, that's like 300 dollars. My dad bought the upgrade of Windows XP Home for a 100 bucks, but I couldn't see myself spending another 300 dollars on an OS when my entire computer cost 900.
