The most rings you ever got in one Act/Zone/Action Stage/etc

My record was breaking 600 in act one of Marble Garden. But I suppose theoretically you could get as many rings as you wanted in Casino Night Zone through trial and error in the slots...

You duck, scrolling the screen down, then you jump as you stand up. Then for a short while, you can walk through solid objects.

It's a bit hard to describe, so why not watch this movie instead?

I prefer to call them "unintended gameplay mechanics".

I wonder if THIS was the reason that Tails was excluded from S&Ks?

Knuckles doesn't like threesomes.

Currently, umm... somewhere in the 200-300 region (Emerald Coast) I think.

Should be fairly easy to whip up a ridiculous number of rings in Casinopolis though, I'm pretty good at those pinball zones.

Yeah, 999 on Casinopolis is my limit. Actually, it was probably more like, 1200 or 1300, but the display only goes up to 999 (when the internal counter itself keeps going).

Overkill much (click the thumbnail to expand):

I'd like to point out that the last 990 or so of those came off one set of pinballs: I thought to myself once I got to 999 "well, one last go for good measure"... and let's just say I did really rather well.

Well, if I ever go Chao rearing, I can probably spoil 'em rotten now...

I've gotten up to 800 rings an act in the later Sonic 3 and Kunckles zones, thanks to the wonders of the "goung-up" bonus stage (you can snag 80 rings in one bubble right near the end, or a 1-up, every time).

I meant the Rolling Jump bonus stage in Sonic and Knuckles (and Sonic 3 and Knuckles). All over the stage there are ring bubbles, along with all the other stuff from Sonic 3's Gumball bonus stages (barriers, 1-ups, clear bubbles, etc.). They start off at 10, then go up to 20, 40, and up to 80 near the end. Sometimes you can find TWO bubbles with 80 rings in them in one swoop. If you can get into the Rolling Jump bonus stage twice in one act, and get 200 or 300 rings each time, you can easily get 600 to 800 rings in one act, as long as you don't die/lose them from touching an enemy/run out of time/turn Super.

No doubt I'm mixing English and Japanese Sonic instruction manuals and confusing the Hell out of you. For that I apologize.

No, I getcha. Those magnet spheres stages were the best. Not counting the original trippy mazes.

I hate the slot machine bonus stage. It just never appealed to me.
