And I thought his Pinobee characters were rehashes!
The monkey and catgirl seem comparatively inspired. (The former reminds me of Gunpey DS) Wonder what's the deal with jagged jaw thing.

What's really strange is that it uses Uekawa's (old) art style. I wonder if it's supposed to be a parody (Perhaps poking fun at the werehog?)

So it's confirmed a hedgehog (which it admittedly does more closely resemble than Sonic, for better or worse).
Also, the game is receiving a physical art book, so this may be one of the rare times we can own Ohshima artwork (for better or worse).

They've posted clean artwork on Sonic Stadium. The character's name is Knack the Hedgehog. There's also another one that looks like Chaos.

Is anyone playing this? Are these characters easy to procure with a new account? I tried playing this before, weeks before news of this, but was put off by connection requirements.
I'm thinking of just buying the artbook, provided it's reasonably priced and contains the guest artists characters.

Re: Naoto Oshima's new designs
Bigisland's character designs don't even fit in with the general aesthetics of this game. Like, you have these funny animal characters next to these relatively mature-looking anime people. It doesn't make sense! I would have preferred he did these characters for Puzzle and Dragons or something.
