Speaking as someone who, God help me, owns the entire "Sonic the Hedgehog" trading card set, it always tickled me pink to see Sonic in that screensaver picture with a glass of champaine.
Quoth one card:
"He never drinks, does drugs, or swears."
Or somesuch.
Of course, in W.B.'s work in ArchieSonic #134, Sonic lets lose a bevy of "stars and pinwheels" after hearing that he can't have his cochlear translation implant removed. Heh.
Oh, also in A.S. #134, in some of the crowd scenes during Mina's concert, Tails Doll can be seen. I've meant to post that since I first read the issue, but I sorta forgot about it. Sorry.
EDIT NUMBER ONE: Specified what was tickling me pink.
EDIT NUMBER TWO: I misspelt "meant." YARGH!

Oh, and superlative work, big_smile!big_smile wrote:But now we know that Tails' official likes Christmas (whereas before it was an unofficial assumption).Ngangbius wrote:But he's 8. What kind of kid doesn't like Christmas other than kids who are not Christians or non-secular?
I love it when character profiles mention trivial facts such as liking Christmas - it makes the characters seem more 'real'.
It may have been due to space constraints. For example, a lot of art that was included in Sonic the Screen Saver is also missing.Crazy Penguin wrote: (although I still don't understand why that was a reason for excluding them, I would've thought that maybe the art and names were lost, but the art used is from the exact same "set" of Sonic 2 art).
That's a good point - I'll try asking around. Are the names and art of the other Sonic 2 animals common knowledge in the Japanese community? I notice that the Sonic 1 animals were listed in the character section of Sonic Dimension, but not the Sonic 2 animals.
^_^
I can't believe I didn't compliment you sooner.

And I've always wondered about religions on the "alternate Earth's future" from the "Sonic" games. I mean, if Tails is a Christian, what is Sonic? Personally, given how he's unsure about his mysterious origins and his philosophical beliefs, I think he could be an atheist (likewise Shadow). Knuckles would probably worship whatever way his ancesters did, given his strong connection to his past and lack of contact with the outside world. Since Amy is into Tarot cards and has slight powers of precognicance, perhaps she, like some of the people I've known who read Tarot and similar things, is a Wiccan (before you jump down my throat, some of my friends, neighbors, and relatives are Wiccan, so please don't think I'm profiling).
Eggman, of course, proabaly thinks of himself as a God.

P.S.: By "alternate Earth's future," I mean that I sorta figure that the "S.t.H." stories take place on an Earth, not our Earth, per se, but an Earth in a Universe where animals can be anthropomorphic and whatnot (and have been anthropomorphic for some time, i.e.: some have evolved that way), magic is part of one's everyday life, et cetera, and then possibly about one hundred years into that Earth's future (no, don't worry, I don't subscribe to the "Mobius" theory...).

You don't need to be Christian to celebrate Christmas. I mean the majority of Japanese celebrate Christmas and only 1% of the population are of the Christian faith. Shoot, the holiday itself is derived by pagan traditions such as the pine trees if I can recall and Jesus' true birthday is said to be somewhere in the Fall.
