Re: The greatest collectible of all time.
In Sonic 1 for the Master System, I always avoid collecting more than 99 rings. Since that resets the tally to 0, and since it's impossible to get 150 rings in any stage (in other words, 50 rings after the reset), getting a 1-UP from rings means you don't get a free pass to the Special Stage. Consid...

Re: The greatest collectible of all time.
I too have known several people like that. But hey, at least they didn't mistake them for yellow fairies.
You forgot to mention one thing in your article - rings are yummy.

Re: Sonic Unleashed?
Unless you're playing Sonic 2 or S3&K as Tails, in which case he doesn't yell "SONIC!" every time he dies. Not that the games had voice acting back then, but that's exactly my point. He was much more tolerable when he was silent, not to mention you could play as him for the entire game and take on S...

Re: Sonic Unleashed?
Many years ago, before I first heard Tails speak (which was in Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog ), I used to think he'd have a voice similar to Chip's English one. Thinking about it now, I have no idea how that would have suited him, but that's mostly because I'm used to him sounding like a girl now...

Re: Sonic and the Quest for Phallic Compensation
I'm surprised they didn't go with X-Kalibur. The X stands for X-TREEEEME.
This has some new footage, I think: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wm8aXeDm2oM
I'll give it two days until someone adds "I CAN HAS HOT DOGZ?" to that last shot.

Re: Sonic Unleashed?
That's probably even worse, considering you can't save your progress until you've finished a level (I think). The daytime stages really do feel more like mini-games than anything else, at any rate. I don't think they even have act names, though I could be wrong.

Re: Sonic Unleashed?
If it helps, I recently played Unleashed on my brother's PS2, and thus, have an opinion about it! Controls are ass. Werehog:Hedgehog ratio is ass (you play as the Werehog for over 80% of the game). Music is... surprisingly good. Unskippable cutscenes are ass. Having to listen to Sonic going "WRRAAAA...

Re: Sega's 12-inch pianist.
I just spent almost two hours reading comic strips from that site. I feel enlightened and only slightly concerned. A friend of mine had a miniature violin. She insisted that it played just like a regular-sized one, but I could never tell if she was telling the truth or just pulling my leg, given tha...

Re: Sonic and the Quest for Phallic Compensation
Though I have to agree on the whole "lol whut" reaction, I can't say I'm all that shocked by this. Not after seeing Sonic transform into a werehog and wielding a sword anyway. On the other hand, collecting apples sounds really, really stupid. Didn't Crash Bandicoot collect apples? If not him, some o...

Re: Sonic Unleashed?
"It's so cute I should shave it..." Okay, I'll bite. Is the answer vulva? What do I win? Sonic Adventure had great music and, unlike its sequel, it actually fit what was going on all the time. I hated how the music in SA2 was character-based. Rouge's levels, in particular, sounded sickeningly girly...

So Shadow just went from a Sonic wannabe to a Meta Knight wannabe. Intriguing.

Re: Sonic and the Quest for Phallic Compensation
We're poking fun at a series starring a blue hedgehog. I think the time to worry about priorities came and went.

I'm surprised no one took a shot at "Hay where's my team?!".

Re: Sonic and the Quest for Phallic Compensation
BUT WAIT, now he's wearing armor: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0AvaZSfXmU&e You know what Sonic needs? Hansel & Gretel. Now that would be a storybook worthy of a grotesque Sonic conversion. Plus they would finally have an excuse for on-rails gameplay because you'd have to follow the bread crumbs.

That box art is full of excellence. It's kind of brilliant despite its simplicity and it conveys the characters' traits really well.

Believe it or not, the first thing I thought when I saw this was Centipede.
