shelter for a weary traveller?

I'm feeling a little lost and need some advice. I grew up a Sega fan progressing from Master System to Mega Drive to Saturn and thought they were all great. I guess I always enjoyed the Sega style and there did seem to be a plentiful supply of exciting games. I kind of skipped the dreamcast era so w...

Re: Sonic Unleashed?

I'm guessing technically it will be fine and near enough a finished product. It'll probably be the best major Sonic game in years but unfortunately I think it will be the first I give a miss. I've been suckered into playing through most of the recent titles, but something about this game doesn't do ...

Re: Sonic Unleashed?

The day sections really look decent but I just cannot stomach the werewolf bits. Even if it's well implemented it just doesn't suit Sonic and it's generic.

Yeah he did; and they practically remade it. Wish they made a Sonic game.

Re: Sonic Unleashed?

So what do people think of the theme of the locations in unleashed? I suppose it's kind of African. The large tree in the trailer is some species of African tree I can't remember the name of. It may suit Sonic if it's done decently. I'm not saying everything has to be surreal but the environments sh...

Re: Sonic Unleashed?

Admittedly I shouldn't have started this listing process as it's snowballing into pointlessness. We should stick to the topic I guess but don't lecture about maturity when we're discussing fuckin' Sonic games. We're all just nostalgic I suppose. It's frightening to think Sonic Adventure will soon re...

Re: Sonic Unleashed?

Well... by my count...

There's:
1. Sonic 2
2.Sonic CD
3. Sonic 1
4. S3 and K
5 Sonic Adventure
6. Sonic Adventure 2
7. Sonic R
8. Triple Trouble
9. I hate to say it but Sonic Heroes

hard pushed for a tenth.

Oh then there's the rush games which I've never played. I'm sure they get in.

Re: Sonic Unleashed?

For all it's problems I think SA2 at least makes it into the top ten Sonic games for me; it''s just a shame how infrequently Sonic actually appears in it. I don't know why they didn't make Sonic playable in any speed stage after completion of story mode. I'm warming a bit to unleashed, but the werew...

Re: Sonic Unleashed?

There is a full moon in the later stages of SA2 when Big The Cat bends over which is why they removed him in the GC version; to preserve the canon.

Re: I bought some Sonic stuff. (9.99 Mb of images.)

Unfortunately the English is too good on those boxes to provide adequate amusement. There needs to be some sort of Japanglish saying something like "awsum harinezumi ball acton."

Re: the death of surrealism?

Are you not looking forward to Shadow Adventure 3 Battle: Treasure Hunt (Featuring Sonic the hedgehog?)

Yeah the adventure games were good admittedly; It's just hard to imagine Green Hill Zone exisiting in the same world as San Francisco. Are these games canonical or what?

Re: Homebrew Sonic 2 HD

Haha. No that's not the line of thinking that brought us Shadow. The original games were about fun but also had a little more depth than just a cartoon animal jumping around. It was about a wee animal jumping around freeing his friends and stopping his planet becoming a metallic madness. the worst t...

Re: the death of surrealism?

As poor and contrived as Heroes is at least it makes some sort of sense Sonically. Sonic Adventure 2 may be the superior game gameplay wise but the locations are so far removed from the original series it feels like doraemon on the set of CSI. Perhaps I just have to accept that Sonic games are gone ...

Re: Sonic Unleashed?

Despite the fact that I expect this to be a technical and gameplay improvement over recent Sonic attempts, I find it hard to get remotely excited about this. Nothing wrong with the Middle East or Morocco or wherever as video game locations, but in the cause of Sonic, it means boring and unimaginativ...

the death of surrealism?

The fantastical and surreal locales of the early Sonic games are so unusual that's it's difficult to believe that they occur on the same planet as the locations in the Adventure games onwards (bar Heroes.) With the exception of Robotnik, humans did not appear in the series until Sonic Adventure. It'...

Re: Smash Bros 3 Site Goes Live.

My god. The Sonic scalping thing is hilarious. I doubt it was intentional but it almost looks like an up yours to Sega. Sonic is in such a bad way these days that even modest little Kirby could hun him down and scalp him with minimum effort. The Sonic fur brings a new meaning to the term 'assist tro...

Re: Smash Bros 3 Site Goes Live.

I wonder what Sonic's alternate colours/costumes are... I suppose Shadow colourings are more than a posibility. But then, would they just recolour the Sonic model or alter the spines etc? I don't know much bout these things.

Re: What Sonic game is this?

The coolest thing about Shadow as a character is that he makes Sonic look even cooler by comparison. The best thing about the Shadow game is watching Sonic destroy stuff of his own accord. One of the many problems I found with the Shadow game is the crudeness of the morality. Killing aliens makes yo...

model citizen

Forgive my ignorance but I have little technical knowledge on the subject.

Obviously we won't see the Saturn emulated on present consoles, but what about the model 2 board? How feasible is this? easy? hard?

In a nutshell what are the chances of seeing classic model 2 games re-released?

Re: Sonic fandom: a pyschological explanation: The Pooh syndrome

Personally I think it's best to avoid medication. The best approach is to push yourself and look at the bigger picture as much as possible. Picture Winnie the Pooh wearing Sonic sneakers and saying "It's OK!"
