Post by PSMad »

Wave one will be Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles.

More information on the pricing and timing will be made available soon.

Personally I think they look great. I like the Megadrive / Genesis style Sonic more than the Sonic Adventure one so the figures really appeal to me. I just hope we get a few more. Dr Robotnic, Metal Sonic and maybe the Egg Mobile.

They do look great. I wonder if there are separating licensing issues involved in getting the "classic" versions. Hopefully these will be popular enough to merit more obscure characters in future waves, like Fang, Bean, Bark etc.

Wow, that's the creepiest thing--I stumble upon this thread the same day I find a Sonic X licensed figurine that DOESN'T suck.

I'll definitely buy those, they look awesome. And wave 2 which will hopefully consist of Dr. Robotnik, Metal Sonic and Amy. Oh, and Fang would be cool but he's rather unlikely to appear isn't he?

I hope they won't be too expensive. :(

Blast it all! I made myself a promise that I wouldn't collect any figures ever again, and then some company goes and make this. XD

Oh well, hopefully they well be cheap.

That depends, I imagine. How much do vinyl figures usually cost?

Beyond awesome. Best Sonic toys yet. It's good to see that the signature style hasn't been forgotten. Hopefully it makes the transition into other media... games, TV, etc.

Any word on these yet? They are, apparently, appearing on ebay:

Of course, the shipping is through the roof. Play Asia still doesn't have them.

Yeah, we have that one over in this other thread for some reason. I'm not sure adding it to your cart would actually do anything, since it says "available Dec 08" and then later "available Q1 2009."

The three small ones are not even on their site!

Seeing that there is no info on the site, I wouldn't be surprised if the production of these figures got quietly canned, which is a shame.

I sent them an email, and they replied!
Thank you for your email. We have finished first batch of figures and we
have shipped those to our Euro distributors, so they should received them by
now. Unfortunately we won't sell those figures on our web site.
They haven't got back to me with my follow up question "US release pls?"

Oh my God, that Tails one makes my eyes a bit wet, and i dont really know why. Is it the cuteness? Is it the nostalgia? Is it just plain simple "I WANT IT NOW!"-frustration? Either way, that's the most awsome piece of Sonic merchandise to come out in like.. forever. Yeah, i honestly think it is.

I was going to get some of these too, but instead they do the 100 dollar Sonic one? Who the hell wants to spend that much on a figure?

36 dollars for three normal ones is a better deal and a more sellable product. It needs an Eggman, though.

If you trust it, there's an auction for the three figure set.

There's a Tails figure and a couple of other F4F auctions as well, including one for the large Sonic figure.

That one says pre-order for February '09. Maybe they all do. I didn't look closely enough.

I don't really care for the Tails. The crossed eyes and toothless grin aren't working for me. If they make a large figure with a different pose, maybe I'll like that one more.

Upon closer inspection, I wonder why they felt the need to outline knux's eyes.

Fifty or so bucks for the three isn't a bad price.

All of those figures are impressive, but they got Sonic absolutely perfect, especially with his pose. I've never been big into collecting figurines, but I'll make an exception for him.

Tails and Knuckles are great, but they remind me of those plastic Pokemon figurines that were released maybe 10 years ago. Is that a bad thing?

44 seems way too much for those, though. PlayAsia had them for 12 as the MSRP (I assume).

Edit: Actually I looked at the other link, but 50 for all three is still too much.

Forbidden Planet's website has them all for sale. I've no idea if they take overseas orders but it's worth a shot I suppose if anyone really wants them.
