The only problem I had with it is AiAi is simply a fag. He shouldn't be in the intro.

They really need to let Sumo Digital, or whoever desinged it, to design the next actual game.

One would assume that, if this game is successful, we can look forward to the "Sega Superstars" brand dipping it's toe in various other genres as well. Woo?

Still, although I dread the inevitable Sega Superstars Kart Racers or Sega Superstars Brain Training, I still feel generally good about this tennis thing... it looks pretty fun, and -- unlike that Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games business -- they appear to be making good use of the franchise source material. And it's hard not to like the game's reverence to the more classic iterations of these characters in particular.

Preview at Eurogamer, of the 360 version:
http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=90996

Be warned that it reveals all but one of the playable characters and all but one of the courts, if you are the sort of person who is worried about spoilers for a tennis game.

Edit: Crap, Esrever's fast!

Looks like knuckles got the fucking shaft.

I suppose we should start betting on who the SUPER SECRET character is. Any guesses?

Temjin perhaps?

I just hope there's enough ass around for him to kick if that's the case.

The hidden character is Mario. Heh, imagine that, Mario in the same game as Sonic. Ridiculous!

That's probably the best 3D representation of a Sonic environment yet. I wonder if it's any indication of what the Smash Bros Brawl stage(s) will look like.

Didn't he just get the shaft?

It is a shame we got Shadow, and to a lesser extent Amy, instead of him though.

It's also kind of crappy that they chose Angel Island Zone from Sonic 3 as the SSBB stage. It's okay but it's nothing more than a jungle - it doesn't have checkered hills, bumpers, flashly lights, and all that stuff.

I expect the mini-boss to appear in the Angel Island stage and set everything on fire. Hopefully, it'll be just as cool as it was the first time in Sonic 3!

I've got to say, I didn't think that the PS2 would, with its dying breath, offer a game that I might consider buying. Maybe. Especially not from Sega! Maybe.

Has this been actually confirmed yet? All we know is that we're getting a remix of the tune, but nothing more. For all we know, it could still be a Green Hill (or, God forbid, Station Square) stage.

If the last character is not Ryo or Lagi (obviously), I bet for... Opa Opa!!! it is the only classic character who can rival with Alex Kid, and I can't imagine another modern character being THAT secret (if it is not Ryo and it is Kazuma some community will suicide for the 20th time lol)

I have just realized how much I want Ristar to be in this game. So I will say it is Ristar. There is no character more appropriate.

NONE!

That would be cheating.
Man, he would be almost invincible in a tennis match. And a basketball match, and a volleyball match... you get it.

And I didn't have the time to watch the trailer in my last post, but yeah. It's completely fabulous, I dig it.

The fact that Alex Kidd is playable makes me forget about the rather disappointing decision to base the NiGHTS stage on Journey of Dreams instead of one of the into Dreams... levels. (Man, Twin Seeds would have been awesome.)

They picked the most boring stage from Journey of Dreams too, which is strange.

Also one of the least visually appealing(last place goes to lost park or w/e). I'm sure they were just looking for a level that featured a smooth flat surface.

Sad Amy is sad. Which's all the more unsettling given that she's playing alongside Sonic and they're winning.

The art direction in this game is nonexistent. A little style couldn't have hurt at all.

Indeed. Know what would kick ass? If the characters suddenly turned cell-shaded in the JSR stage.

Now if the oh so secret character was Segata Sanhshiro? The chances are slim seeing how he never got promoted outside Japan, but since they also included the long-forgotten Alex Kidd, who knows? It could also be the car from Daytona USA though, returning from Fighters Megamix. Which would make even less sense, but if it can fight in 1-on-1 combats, why not play tennis as well?

where the hell is skies of arcadia? The characters would be perfect. Imagine how cool it would be to see Vyse using pirate's wrath with a tennis racket.

Ign has a hands on article up covering the wii version. There are also a handful of direct-feed videos.

http://wii.ign.com/articles/851/851687p1.html

I think this game, or at least this version of it is looking like complete ass. Please take note of how tacky and Team Blasty (ala sonic heroes) the special moves look. Also the entire game feels dull both in terms of gameplay and visual styling. Blech.

edit : and the voices. Oh god.
