Win a lightsaber and become an assasin in your free time!

Post by Zeta »

Any opinions on No More Heroes? It looks to me like Japanese humorous mindfuck + Grand Theft Auto, but with LIGHTSABERS. Which automatically makes it better than GTA. It's from the makers of Killer7, so you know it will be full of stylistic pretension.

Know what make great makeshift condoms? Aborted fetuses.

I'm interested. I'm quite interested, but I can wait until February if the USA's getting the uncut version for a change.

I loved killer7 far more than I should've, so I'm naturally looking forward to this.

Also, its Japanese release held one of the more interesting pre-order items...

I was anticipating this game but I will not buy a censored version, and since Wii is region locked...

I've been anticipating this game since that first trailer was leaked two or so years ago. I'm rather disappointed that they didn't choose to maintain the visual style of that trailer for the environments, although I understand that it would be a lot of work to implement effectively. I'm not particularly bothered by the cuts either, which seem to really just effect the colour of the blood, and to be honest, I've seen plenty of the red stuff in games already.

If you don't mind the crunching noise, I mean.

And if you want to get technical, wouldn't a lightsaber cauterize wounds as it made them?

I'm looking forward to it immensely. It looks like a pretty decent/amusing game.

I'm also interested. The only complaint I've heard is the hack-n-slash can get repetitive, which is a non-issue for me since I kinda like mindless beat-em-ups, like Streets of Rage, from time to time.

Plus it just seems very creative in terms of style (visual and otherwise). February should be a good month for Wii owners.

Yeah, cel-shading! I don't think I've ever seen that before. Where do they come up with this stuff?

I kinda wish there were more ways to kill other than beheading and vertical bisection. If a game is gonna be over-the-top violent, I expect the deaths to be creative.

I was gonna say, visually, it's just JSR with blood. Some of the character designs are relatively original, but the innovation's gonna be the marriage of the visuals to the hilarious sadism, not the visuals on their own.

This game looks retarded and I don't know why suda51 gets any kind of positive recognition in the first place.

Suda51 gets recognition because Killer 7 was awesome. And NMH looks to be just as good (and from the reviews so far, it seems that it is).

It's simply because his writing is edgy and unique. The first game he worked on was a wresting game where the main character kills himself at the end.

It works for me, as I'm really keen to see what these social issues are in NMH.

Oh man I can't wait. How is he going to follow up the pressing social issue of wrestlers who kill themselves??

Saving by pooping on a toilet is obviously a scathing criticism of the modern post-secondary education system!

Actually, I wonder if it could be more to do with the state of health care and how it varies between countries.

Given that it's set in America and our national healthcare is one of the suckiest in the world, maybe Travis dies at the end from untreated diseases he gets because the government gives him abstinent only sex education?

I wasn't really a fan of Killer 7 at all, but I think this game looks kinda neat. I like the art style (which, cell-shaded or not, strikes me as pretty distinct-looking), and unlike Killer 7 it looks like it might be pretty fun to play, too.

That's pretty unlikely considering Travis is apparently an otaku and probably isn't abstinent by choice.

Oh, that could be a social issue.

I thought Killer 7 was just OK. I'd like some actual gameplay to go along with an odd story (otherwise I'd rather watch a movie or read a book).

I'm somewhat interested in this game, but to be honest I'll probably just let it slide by.

I dunno, I'm not getting "cel-shaded" from this game, I'm just getting kind of...fuzzy. Simplistic. Indistinct. I may have been spoiled by playing PS3 games recently but, and I'm sorry to break out this old standby, it looks worse than a first-gen DC game. You know what, I think it's the clear distinction between styles of character and environment. What's that all about? You've got some low-poly ink-n-paint cartoon man running around an attempt at a realistic, if not just realistically bland, city playground.

That's just me, though. I'm superficial as all hell. I am also, however, always right. So, y'know.

So, is anyone getting this? It looks like the Canadian release has been delayed a week, which I guess gives you all a week to convince me not to get it.
