I've found out the Snake trailers didn't work for me while using Firefox, but then I tried Internet Explorer and had a lot more success.

I was about to suggest the same thing, but then I tried reloading the page, clicking the link and just wait some 10 or 15 seconds and the video loaded successfully (I have a 1.5 Mbps cable modem connection). Just keep the Flash plug-in up-to-date.

The last one was by far my favorite just because Snake's reactions were pretty much paralleled to mine.

See, and here I was thinking that Mr. Resetti was the greatest Assist Trophy in the game, when it actually turns out to be a pair of 8-bit charatcers.

I wonder how they determine if a character is going to be giant pixels or made into 3D? They could have a ton of assist trophies really fast if they wanted to just use the old art..

I'm sure they take these almost controversial decisions based entirely on the fandom's feedback and focus group research testing. Because everybody hates polls.
Totally sure.

Lakitu could have gone either way but if Excitebike was a fancy new 3D model it would just be a generic guy on a generic motorcycle. I suspect that other less distinctive characters will also get sprites simply for recognisability.

I thought that perhaps if it's an assist that generates lots of characters (like Excitebike or Lakitu), and there could potentially be 20+ of so and so character on the screen at one time, then maybe it should be sprite based. But I also like Crazy Penguin's suggestion and in that case, I'd have preferred Lakitu to be 3d since he's recognizable enough.

I just find with Lakitu in his original form I never suspected he was a turtle wearing glasses. I never had any idea what he was, actually.

Two new updates today: an explanation on shielding and dodging (nothing new to add) and the LANDMASTERRR!!
I really hope that thing comes falling from the top of the screen instead of simply popping up on the floor.

The Landmaster sure looks nice, but I would've preferred an Arwing any day. It would be just perfect to be able to control an Arwing just like in Starfox 64 and shoot the hell out of everyone.

Somehow I think in an Arwing you'd go flying past the arena and then never find it again.

Yes, & it's a chargin' it's laser. Now it's a firin' it's laser.
& Fox's scouter is telling him it's over 9000.
& mudkips will probably come out of the poke'balls he throws.
& Fox's grab makes him Rule 34 the poor victim.

Finally an explanation about how character selection works for the story mode. Basically, you start the game as Kirby or Mario and more characters get added in as extra lives/co-op players/switchable characters as you play along. Pretty lame. I really preferred the more freeform Adventure mode of Melee to this limiting, cutscene laiden, "epic" storyline with less options.

Oh wow, Sonic-style co-op? That sounds bad...

And...

There’s a method for powering yourself up as needed to do battle with the Subspace Army—a method that has not been seen before.

I’ll explain this in great detail another time.
Sakurai, you bastard.

Co-op sounds cool, though. Its something I always thought Melee's Adventure mode would have benefited from. I do agree, however, that having to follow a storyline rather than just choosing your character and playing is a bit of a turn off.

It really does sound funny that way, actually.

And maybe Sakurai was playing a bit too much SoulCalibur III's crappy story mode?

Sounds like the co-op play from Kirby Super Star and Kirby's Dream Land 3 to me. I like it just fine.
