Wonder if he'll show up again.
Frankly, I'm surprised none of the SMRPG-specific Mario characters showed up in that Itadaki Street DS game.

Yeah, or that Mario Basketball game that has the FF characters in it.
Of course, it's been so long that maybe Square forgot the characters even existed.

Most of the important-types who made SMRPG are with Alphadream now. I think...

I think it could be useful, depending on how well it blocks attacks, but I imagine any serious fighters will probably turn it off.

Ike's got two special moves up for today and they pack a punch (not literally).
Looks like Ike's shaping up to be more different than Marth or Roy than we expected.

In terms of music, I think the most memorable themes for players were the Grim Reaper theme and the Game Over theme.
I actually remember being asked to stop that horrible noise when the Grim Reaper music came on... so yeah that was pretty memorable.
But otherwise I thought the music for Kid Icarus was pretty solid.

I think the arrangement sounds great. I love that song and I was really waiting to listen to this. I'm glad that it's that good. The Grim Reaper music sure is a surprise, and it was very annoying. I hope you'll be able to turn people into eggplants.

Maybe Eggplant Wizard is an assist.

Either way, it's now the Franklin Badge, which reflects ALL projectile attacks temporarily.
Although it says "Mother" on the front, and going by Sakurai's comments, it's not gonna be changed to "Earthbound". :\

Or Mother 1 and 2 on Game Boy Advance. Is Nintendo planning on releasing Earthboubd / Mother 2 anytime soon on the Virtual Console?

Maybe they'll put all three on DS and release that here?

Starmen.net insists that Earthbound will be on the VC soon, and I don't remember the last time (if ever) that their sources have lied. As for Mother 3,
the fan translation 's going alright.

Was the Franklin Badge an item from any of the mother games?

Yeah, Mother 2/Earthbound at least. Not sure if it appears in any other games.
It has the same effect as it does in Brawl (reflecting an attack), except it only works with lightning attacks.

From what I understand, it' in all the Mother games, but it's rather prominent in Mother 3, and was released as an actual piece of merchandise to go along with the game in Japan.

Okay, now this is neat - Pokemon Trainer is playable.
Although I bet there's no girl version.

There might connectivity with Poke'mon Battle Revolution that'll allow you to use a custom made trainer from your save on that game as an alt. costume. Which would be awesome except for the fact it would clash with the Mii's chances of being a customizable character.

Wow. Just wow.
When I first played the original Smash Brothers years ago, I thought it would be kind of neat to play as a Pokemon trainer. This might shoot down the likelyhood of any other Pokemon appearing as playable characters though.

My first thought upon hearing the trainer was playable was "trainer? Wouldn't he just use pokemon instead of actually fighting himself?" The fact that this has been taken into consideration is indeed a good thing. Also they're not using the newer, lame looking pokemon. Original starters! Hell yes!

I'm sort of annoyed that all the Pokemon in the series you can play as have been from the first 151. Pichu doesn't count, since he's a lame clone.
