Visually the DS title is most comparable to the N64 one anyway, though now with 3d models instead of sprites for the racers and of course, a lack of any anti aliasing or texture filtering.
The game has a lot of potential in my opinion, there's a lot of work going into it, not just with the online play. There's some interesting new Singleplayer and multiplayer modes, new items, multiple karts per character and so on, I'm definitely picking it up on (European) release.
About the Revolution controller, well, I think it has a lot potential, I'm just not entirely sure yet if they can actually pull it off.

No, I liked it. I just felt there was no sensation of speed. Also, the CPU was a cheap bastard who would ride up on your ass if you got in front of him for mre than a second. That was annoying.

They are karts, not Sonic, Karts arent very fast...
We're talking about a series where a plumber saves a kingdom of mushrooms from a giant dragon turtle thing. Realism is NOT a valid argument for not feeling like you're moving at a decent clip.

OK, what about Mario never being really fast? Wait, he has to run a whole stage in less that 3 minutes…he is fast for being a fat plunder.
Mario kart 64 started the whole 3D karts mania, and is one of the best games for the Nintendo 64. If you don’t like it, fine!.

Then, forget about Mario and play the good fast Sonic games.
C'mon, Sonic Adventure isn't that fast. It rocks, sure, but there are crappier games (Sonic Advance 2) that are much faster. Seriously, play Adventure 2; I don't think I'll ever find a zone as cool as Final Rush. In 3-D, at least
How the hell can you compare that controller to an Eye toy? Eye toy was just a fun gimmick that involved popping bubbles and shit with your hands. This thing is more like a mouse that you don't have to roll on a flat surface... I think.
You have any idea of how many controllers they make until they have the final one? I’m sure someone will punch those dudes and make them do a better one.
