I really don't know. In all honesty I thought it looked crap when I saw the pictures but the promo video gives a better idea of how it works. I just feel I can't really judge it until I've actually used one myself.

I can't say if it is a 100% good idea or a 100% bad idea.

So the most appropriate answer would be WTF!?!?

Seriously, WTF?!?

I'll reserve judgement on the controller until I use one for myself, but I honestly think that this didn't even come close to deserving the hype that it got. It just looks awkward to use, and doesn't seem to have enough face buttons for complex Revolution games.

After reading some impressions of the controller I am cautiously optimistic about it. It seems that at least FPS and RTS would be a dream to play what with that laser pointy like thingy. We will see how other genres will use the controller.

For now I will say 'good' because damn it, Nintendo got me intrigued for the future.

Wouldn't it be awkward to really swing it about like they do in the video. The shortness of the wire means you'd have to do a kind of two handed lunge for each motion. It does look like it could work well with instrument games. Guitaroo Man, Mad Maestro, etc.

Really fucking stupid. In the name of "innovation" Nintendo has sunk to whole new unexplored regions of fucking stupid that even the "two kinds of 360" thing hasn't managed to touch. FUCKING STUPID AS FUCK ARG CORONARY

I can't wait, myself.

But...

did anyone else see it and think it was a dildo with a remote control to adjust its vibration setting? Don't let me be the only one! ^^;;

Supposedly, Nintendo are making standard controller shells for the times you don't want to control the "remote"--just slip the thing and the shell and you got your average controller.

So after the "WTF?!?" shock I think...well I guess it could be cool for some games like FPS, sports, RPGs, and certain games like someone from another board have pointed out...

C'mon SEGA, now is the time to revive this franchise to the Rev.

I actually want some hands on time with the controller myself.
It seems as though Nintendo has done its publicity job quite well.

Incidentally, Popcorn is dead right.

Having controller shells should be good, I'd be too used to the standard controller thing to use a remote. And, yes, this is a big opportuntity for Samba to make a comeback.

I...I just don't know! You'd think something like that would be kind of awkward to hold right? I've yet to see any videos of it yet, so I'm just basing my judgement on these screenshots.

I think the controller looks pretty comfortable to handle and very intuitive to use, and pretty much all of the hands-on impressions I've seen have confirmed that. It seems to me like it is going to be very good at doing the things it is intended to do.

So yeah, I'd call it a pretty solidly designed device. I just don't know if there are many worthwhile gaming concepts that would require it. It's got way more potential that the DS, but... that's not really saying much.

I already know that the Nintendo will never be the only new console in my home again... it hasn't been able to do that for several generations now. So it doesn't really bother me if this thing is not going to handle ever single existing genre well, or run every multiplatform title. I don't mind if it does something different, as long as it does it well.

You use a remote control for a Tv, right? so the Revolucion must be a Tv…

I'm pretty sure the box to the left of the TV in one of the screenshots is a TV.

To stop on topic, the Revolution controller looks interesting, but it looks expensive, especially having to (possibly) buy a Gamecube-ish controller seperately to play most of ther games.

Yeah, this is the kind of control that only works well with only a few games. Most games will work a lot better with a more classical console control, like the Mark III one^_-.
