Chaotix manual
Smile found some dude with the manual and coerced him through unspeakable means to make scans. Or maybe he persuaded him with the promise of sexual favors. Either way I shudder to think what kind of transactions must have taken place, but whatever the case, the manual scans are here:

So that credit is given where credit is due, the dude in question is Heran Bago.

The prologue has been translated, but seeing as how confusing the whole thing is I'd always welcome an alternate translation. The character profiles haven't had any proper]/i] translations, and I don't think the enemy names and profiles have had any kind of translation at all, nor have the items, attacks etc.G.Silver wrote:Do we have translations of the contents of this already?
The translation of the story and (obviously done by computer) <a href="http://homepage.ntlworld.com/big_smile/ ... rofiles at Big Smile's(?) site are generally workable, and the story in particular seems accurate enough to me. I did notice that for once, the sections on the special/bonus stages are actually made relevent to the story (or at least all that "Pillar" crap) and not just purely "how to play", so I translated the bits in question:
For enemies, the names have been romanji'ed but the "profiles" are just behavioral description (and full of troublesome onomatopoeia), they are not interesting. I included kyarii's because it backs up the name interpretation:Bonus Stage (p.32)
If you touch one of the giant rings that can be found in the attractions while carrying 20 rings or more, you'll switch to the Bonus Stage. The Bonus Stage is a place produced by the Pillar Energy where there may be precious items that cannot be obtained elsewhere.
Chaos Ring (p.36)
In the space created by the ancient Special Ring, the Pillar Energy is crystalized into a Ring State. There are six types in all, and if you collect them all and clear the final stage, Eggman's ambitions can be thwarted.
After the six Chaos Rings have been collected, a bonus will be added for any further Special Stages that are cleared.
Enemy Names:
Kameka ("Mosquito Mecha")
Kyarii ("Carry,"--"It carries heavy-looking cargo, but what is inside...?")
Doribouraa ("Dribbler")
Juppen (Zuppen? Schuppen?)
Zakku
Gacchi
Piranii
Metal Sonic (Kai)
A Sonic-shaped robot made by Dr. Eggman, using the Main and Sub CPUs retrived from the wreckage of the previous version beaten by Sonic. Loaded into a spare body, it was reborn using Dark Ring Power. Thanks to the newly-installed Plazner ("Purazunaa"), it is now able to fire the "Plasma Pulse Attack" from the head component.

What kind of bizarre warnings are on page 44? Don't hit the game with a mallet? Exposure to the sun may cause dehydration? And why does Tails appear so bent on tampering with the game cartridge? Actually, I don't want to know. I'd prefer to leave these conjectures in the realm of imagination and fancy.

Hey guys. Really interesting stuff you guys have posted. That page with Sonic, Tails, and Eggman, is equivlent of the lame US "Don't kill your cartridge." ehh, why am I explaining it, you guys already know it.
I got this game when I was on vacation in Japan for 10 bucks, mint. Just the catridge still wrapped in plastic should fetch a fair price on eBay.
But I know the Sonic Community could use this so.. done.
Some guy on SWS2B asked me to scan the manual, I told him I was already going to.
And the rest is bandwidth-consuming magic.

Sorry to necromance this thread but I just wanted to inform you that I happen to own a copy of Knuckles' Chaotix (pal version) as one of only three games to my 32X system (the others being Doom and Mortal Kombat).
If you want scans for your website I will gladly contribute. Btw I might also note that, as a game, I've always liked Knuckles' Chaotix. Sure, it had some rough edges and the elastic rings weren't the brightest idea ever conceived but I did have a lot fun playing it.
I think the only thing about KC that really dissappointed me was the absence of a bonus for collecting the Chaos Rings. Those special stages were hard enough as they were dammit!
