Game Music Remixes! What's your favourite?

Post by Opa-Opa »

Lately I've been downloading a lot of these MP3s of remixed music from videogames. I found a really good one based on Robotnik's song from Sonic 2 (Tatataa, taaa taaa, tatataataaa ta taaa!), sounds like a nice, pleasant rave. What's your favourite remix?

Aaand here's the link for it: http://www.ocremix.org/detailmix.php?mixid=OCR00797

I don't really listen to remixes that much, but from what very little I hear, I do enjoy Terra in Black.

Many remixes sometimes tend to be "over-mixed." It's not always a bad thing, but I also like to hear simple remixes of just the original tunes.

I love the music in Sonic 2, and hearing it played with cleaned up instruments just made my day.

I like some remixes. Much of The Black Mages is good. But, some of it is tripe.

(whoops! already linked to OCR)

Out of Black Mages stuff I liked "Force Your Way" and "Still More Fighting". J-E-N-O-V-A put me off though, I didn't like the whole trance/drum n' bass vibes.

That Sonic 2 music is awesome.

I have both of the Black Mages albums on my computer and they are awesome. But the one I didn't quite... get... was the Theme from Final Fantasy X. The singing threw me off.

The Chrono Trigger: Brink of Time album by Yasonori Mitsuda was ten kinds of awesome. I haven't heard that many songs from the Black Mages, but what I have heard has kicked ass.

Anyone feel like sharing some Black Mages mp3's?

I'm kinda suspicious about the whole remix thing; I bought a CD published by a group called the final fantasty remix project, and it sounded like a guy messing about randomly on his MIDI keyboard. Waste of £9.95. But I'll listen to the black mages anyway.

I've got all three Black Mages albums. 1, 2, and Live.

I want this Chrono Trigger: Brink of Time album now.

Personally I'm rather partial to the Spark Man/Weapon Equip (MM3) remix by the NESkimos.

Cool S2 mixes Spazz. They'll go nicely with the S2 MP3 thingy.

I'm just saying it wasn't my bag man. I like some trance or drum'n'bass every now and then but JENOVA didn't really click with me. You have beef with that?

No, I'm just calling you a pansy out of spite.
Anyways, I rather like the Black Mages remix of Fight With Seymour.

Or it could be that I'm a whore for guitar solos.

Then check this out Baba.

They're a brazilian heavy metal band entirely dedicated to playing video game music. They've got some really good versions of Street Fighter songs, and the entire soundtrack from Altered Beast, Golden Axe and Contra. There's a good Strider medley with the song from the arcade game and from Marvel vs Capcom, and some other medley with the first Alex Kidd songs.

Yeeeah. Those are the ones that should be done first. I think videogame music (from the 8-bit 16-bit era) has so much potential. I mean, this people had this limited hardware but they managed to do some great stuff. I think the future generations will refer to them as great masters. Too bad most of them annonymous...

Hidden Palace Zone? You should've showed me this sooner!

Oh yeah, and if you click on "Parent directory", you can find other mixes just like those from other Sonic games.

Btw, credit for those goes to Hapi-San/Cinossu/Marc.

A few that I'm currently listening to:

"Cursed Bloodline" Dennis Mott
"Spread Your Fire Against Me" Dennis & BrainCells
"The Ice Beam Cometh" goat
"Scale the Machine" goat
"Lower Norfair" Stemage
"Little Mac's Confession" Game Over
"Norfair Tenement Blues" NESkimos
"Ursurpers, Deception, and World-Saving" ansgaros
"Brett's Requiem ~ A Dragon's Flight" Norrin Radd
"Go Home and Be a Family Man" Norrin Radd

Muh; this is somewhat outdated. I'll download more tracks eventually... just not right now. :|

The only video game remix I think I've heard is Green Forest from SA2 by some dude named SSNTails. I liked it, its on my PC I think still.
