If you ask me, they should devote a button to simply crouching, the equivalent of D-DOWN's function in older platforms. The Z button on Gamecube would be great for that sort of thing. Pressing it while standing still makes Sonic crouch, pressing it while running rolls him into a ball, and crouching while tapping A charges the spin dash. The old control scheme had more of an "oomph" to it than simply hitting B to launch forward. It's not THAT hard to reimagine it in 3D.
That stupid, lame dash was kept since Sonic 3d. I mean, what happened to the revs.
As for light dash, it didn't make sense. Maybe as a shield only move like in S3K it would be better.
Sonic is simply about spinning and speed, not all these stunts like grinding and flips that turned Adventure 2 into a Tony Hawks session.
I'm fine about the grinding, it's just that slowmo stupid somersault that kills me. I think the moves and the physics were perfect on Sonic Adventure 1. Sonic could spin dash when he wanted with no cost of speed, a jump in high speed while going up a ramp, ladder or mountain would send you zooming upwards, everything very faithful with the original ones if you ask me.
Yeah. Bottomless pits are evil. But I didn't have ALL that problem with the grinding. The main problem was every time blindfolded Knuckles tried to punch a robot and ended up punching the air, going for certain doom.
They should take away the homing attack too, what happened to the orgasmic feeling of when you got a well aimed hit on an enemy that was unaided by any gimmicks?
What happened to that is that jumping around normally in 3-D is a bitch. Trying to hit moving targets while jumping around at high speed would be fucking impossible.
