I never thought this day would come.

I see a link to the GitHub for MAME/MESS, but I don't see the ROM file in there, just mention of it on the supported games list and the segac2.c driver needed for it to run. Where's it hosted?

I don't think it's been released publicly yet. News that one piece of Classic Sonic's history is saved from bitrot is reason enough to rejoice.

Let's Cosmo Fighter, Popcorn Shop, and Star Tours are spared the same fate!

Edit: Footage!

This makes me wish there was more effort to find and dump lesser-known Mario machines. There's tons of them. :'(

Take solace in that Nintendo is generally good a preserving its past. (And hope it wasn't Iwata alone championing it)

Wow! I always thought the game was just a cheap merchandise cash-in, but they've put a fair bit of effort into it. There's voice overs for all the cast (including the animal friends) which now makes this Sonic's first in-game talking appearance.

The System16 link in the announcement post mentions Jarred Matte, so it's twice the nostalgia.

That's nice, but i'd really like to play Segasonic Arcade. Has anyone released a ROM of that yet?

If one hasn't been released, then I'm really curious to know how GG took the snapshots for the site.

Huh. I thought I heard somewhere that the game had an odd control pad which made it difficult to release in a playable format. And I'm aware of the museum page, I just assumed the pictures were obtained from a Google search or something.

MAME emulated it over 10 years ago. The controls were a little tough with a keyboard, but I still beat it and managed to collect every ring in every level.

Hey, you guys are keeping the flame alive. Well done!

I've always wondered how Sonic Patrol Car played. Is this the first instance of Sonic talking, also? I didn't expect the music to be (mostly?) recycled.
