Looks like Archie are going to do a Sonic/Mega Man crossover.

Blue + Blue = ?

Edit: Merged from thread "Blue + Blue = ?"

Let's face it, this is PROBABLY not the wierdest crossover Archie has done.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand this is why I need to check other threads before posting my own. :C

re: crossover, I suppose this was an inevitability, what with Archie holding the comic book rights to both franchises. Besides, it's PROBABLY a lot more logical than most of Archie's past crossover shenanigans (two heroes, both blue, both fight mad doctors who use robots, etc.).

When was 8 or 9 or whatever and I got to the end of Megaman 2, a friend and I speculated on the meaning of the abandoned helmet at the end of the game. "I think he might have died," said my friend. Consequently, looking at this picture I can't help thinking, "Megaman and Sonic are dead!"

Knock knock it's Knuckles.

Press release: http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page ... e&id=39649

"The 12-part storyline will run through the ongoing SONIC THE HEDGEHOG, MEGA MAN and SONIC UNIVERSE titles and be available in print and digitally."

This surprises me. I imagined it would just run through 2 issues of Sonic and 2 issues of Mega Man. This must be the first time Archie have published a 12-part anything.

For reference, other Archie crossovers have included:

Archie/Punisher
Archie/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Sonic/Image Comics
Sonic/Sabrina the Teenage Witch
Archie/K.I.S.S.
Archie/Glee

The fact that Bass is apparently going to show up at all intrigues me, though. I've been collecting the MM comics since they began distribution last year, and (as of right now) they're only starting to slowly warm up for the third game--the current arc is an original story, though it introduces elements from MM3/4 and, of all things, Super Adventure Rockman, while the following arc will cover ProtoMan's origins, no doubt to set him up as Break Man in time for the third game story arc. The only logical recourse would be either a new origin for Bass (Auto, another MM7 introduced-bot, was retconned as having always been around in the Archie-verse), or having the crossover take place at some indeterminate point in the comic's future...I think.

No shit. I wonder what it is about the red & independent types that make them so dang intriguing. (hopefully not the same as what makes the black & morose popular!)

Quite good, in my opinion. Kind of like Sonic Universe or that "Sonic:Genesis" shebang, each arc is contained within four issues. In the case of the two game adaptation arcs, this can lead to some bits getting rather...hurried...but it's still pretty good all the same. Plus, the writers have been working within the game's canon (as opposed to those "other time and place" things the Sonic comics use) to greatly enhance/foreshadow bits of the story. It's no MegaMix/Gigamix, but then again, few things are.

12 parts across 3 books? I'm reminded of the SA1 arc that went on for what must have been 5-6 months.

When I was a kid I had this idea about Knuckles finding a dormant Megaman in one of his excavations. Good times. I guess if you wait for long then people end up doing stuff you wanted to see.

Now where's that Sonic vs. Aliens comic book?

Wow, the Genesis Unit from Wily Wars. That's so obscure it's nearly off-putting. We know you're cool, Spaz.

Skull Egg Zone is something I never knew I wanted. But now I want it. Badly. (And Eggman and Wiley tandem biking is something I wish I could make into an 150X100 avatar.)

The sprite covers can burn in hell, though. What is this rank amateur web comic bull-plop.

SO HEY GUESS WHAT. The first issue is getting ready to release if it hasn't already. Turns out the crossover is the result of Wily finding the Blue Chaos Emerald that went AWOL after the events of "Sonic: Genesis", breaching dimensions with it, and working with Eggman to set off ANOTHER Genesis Wave (the same thing Eggman used to start the "Genesis" arc). There's a nice write-up/review about it here.

Gonna call it now: the main villain this time around is probably going to beXander Payne, after his time-travelling-induced insanity at the end of the "Dawn of X" arc in the Mega Man comics.

I beg of you, Flynn - have a scene where Phoenix Wright and Sonic compare hairstyles. That would easily make up for the inclusion of Sticks, and indeed Sonic Boom as a whole.

I recognize Nights easy. I want to say that's Viewtiful Joe behind Sticks, but that character has only one helmet prong and what appears to be a shoulder cannon...

Please be Joe.
