Non-trailer game footage (and a lot of it) here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ucbhL3kubVQ
The music is a lot more Sonicky, at least. I wonder if it ever transitions out of the Splash Hill/GHZ-type environments? It's not like they don't have piles of level assets just laying around that they could re-purpose.
Anyway, my first thought was pretty in accordance with the subjectline.

You can buy additional features (or just rings/tokens, it seems) for up to fifty dollars?

Re: The culmination of modern Sonic
I must say, I am impressed how Sega is handling Sonic.
In the past they would have used spin-offs such as the Story book and Riders games to cash in on the periods in between major titles, but now they seem to be relying on these mobile games.
It also seems that they have abandoned Sonic 4 (which didn't work on mobile) and have taken the far more sensible step of focusing on developing mobile specific games.

I haven't played Dash yet, but it seems the extra characters are just skins (much like in Sonic Jump), which is disappointing. Still, given the price, its hard to complain. And hey, you can play as Tails, Knuckles and Amy for the first time in eons!

Skins they may be, it's still nice to see Tails and Knuckles being able to run along the same regular stages as Sonic for the first time in like 11 years, and use the rolling attack to boot.

I went ahead and picked it up. I don't have any experience with runners (outside of Colors/Generations ohohohohoho) but it's a fun little title. I'd really rather it have stuck with a no-rings hit as the only way to die rather than a one-hit from a rock or whatever when I still have 200 rings, but I guess that's sort of a staple for this... genre? I guess it's a genre. It doesn't seem to transition out of the Splash Hill/GHZ environments much other than a few sections here and there that use the more ruins-y bits from Splash Hill. Too bad, really, since I really think just having three or four different skins would go a long way. It also plugs the pay-options (basically buy the stuff you'd earn by playing and finishing challenges) waaaaay to much. Still, pretty fun!
Also, yes. Those are Yadorins.

They are churning out a F2P Puyo Puyo-themed Bejewelled/ZooKeeper clone as well. Shameful! Such a venerable old franchise of excellent puzzle games deserves better than to be degraded to but a skin of the lowest common denominator of the genre.
