Sony doesn't have mascots so much as characters they've tried to make mascots, but at least people still remember PaRappa.

He was actually in my dream last night, the one I woke up a half hour early from. I do not remember in what capacity he was involved, or even if he was physically there so much as his presence was there - it might actually have been PJ Berri - but whoever it was, there was definitely some kind of NanaOnsha vibe.

Speaking of, I was also kind of surprised to learn they're still around. You often see Rodney Greenblat characters (not PaRappa) on snack packaging around here. Apparently he's got some kind of a following in this country.

I like the idea of a bunch of B-list video game mascots fighting each other. It would be awesome if they can get U-1 from Gitarooman to fight Parappa (I know Gitarooman is from koei but still he never appeared on a non sony console).

That's the hypest shit I've ever seen. Optimus prime and bomberman fighting each other is already a sensory overload.

Between this and that sort-of-sequel to Namco X Capcom, only Sega's in it too, I wonder if anyone ever tried to make a chart linking every known crossover through characters in common. Something like a "five degrees of Ryu".

I've actually attempted that. I can't remember how far I got. Go ahead and mock me.

Of course, in what I envisioned there isn't the slightest pretension of forming any sort of cohesive unifying storyline.
On a related topic, Darth Vader has two degrees of Ryu: Soul Calibur IV (Darth Vader/Mitsurugi), Namco X Capcom (Mitsurugi/Ryu). Or does that make only one degree? I don't know all that well how this game works.
