Well, so much for Episode 2 being an original game.

How does that Pokéball-headed freak even remotely resemble anything from Sonic CD?

Well, they said that Episode 1 was going to be a throwback to the classics, which it was, with nary an original bone in its body. They also said, however, that subsequent episodes (Plural? lolololol) would be entirely original, though. That clusterfuck of a snail follows the plan, but the rehashed wall tire from Sonic 3 doesn't, which goes well with Sega's half-hearted work ethic.

>complain about lack of originality
>complain that enemy looks nothing like ones from previous game

is more what I was getting at.

Way I sees it, an enemy that can apparently only be damaged by rolling, plus a hint of a level gimmick that requires a spin dash, is a sign of good faith. I am startlingly optimistic, though.

I read ya loud and clear, mate. I was trying to save face.

Didn't Episode 1's last stage have those spin things to open doorways? They didn't bounce you around, though.

Fair enough, sorry for waving my dick in your face.

Are you talking about Mad Gear? I think they just used those cog sections, but I'm loathe to boot it up and find out.

Are we seriously still doing this? Are there actually people who still refuse to admit that Sonic 4.1 was a soulless, derivative, boring piece of shit that was merely functional at best? I have absolutely zero expectations for Sonic 4.2, and I still won't be surprised if it manages to disappoint even then.

Are we talking about here, or the whole internet? The game sold well, regardless of the glaring quality issues, so it's financially viable to make at least one more episode. I can hardly say I have high hopes, but I'm keeping an open mind.

I wouldn't even call it functional. Game played, looked, and sounded like ass. (And I'd rather play Sonic Heroes' Special Stages over Sonic 4's. Sonic Heroes'!) Episode 2 has nowhere to go but up from here, or so I would hope.

The fact that SEGA is playing coy about episode 2 in the same way as the first one is not encouraging.

My expectations are still resting between strata, but it's nice to see some effort.

Well... I guess it's not a complete rip-off.

These guys don't have an original bone in their body, do they?

Oh hey Sonic 2. Sup?

God none of this inspires any confidence, just like when they did it for episode 1. They need to just show the damn thing.

No, they're having too much fun trolling, secure knowing it's going to sell at least a million no matter what happens.

Oops, that doesn't inspire confidence either.

Screenshots!
And they are looking lovely this evening. And what's going on in the background there? Is Eggman using Little Planet to rebuild Death Egg? Massively exciting.

EDIT: Screenshots got taken down, but they're mirrored over at Retro. Linky!

I have to admit. The levels look original for a change, thank god, and it's not hideous, in fact quite pretty. (Excluding the special stage backdrop which makes the thing look like it's channeling 3D Blast PC.)

Lest we forget, of course, that Sega has creating polished turds down to a science now. We shall see what we shall see.

Oh god, classic Tornado. Its redesigns are easily the worst. WORST. So, this is something good.
