Oh man, I meant to post about this weeks ago!

Has anyone else seen that Captain Crunch is doing retro boxes now? I pretty much don't watch any TV anymore so there might be some reason for this (an anniversary?), but I was surprised to see them on the shelves, and on the back, it has character bios for the original advertising cast. This is meaningless nostalgia for me, the ads I saw growing up featured Crunch cruising around thwarting the Soggies and this rather menacing character that I can just barely recognize on the edge of my memory (I can't seem to find any pictures of him), but it's cool to see the old art come back, I appreciate the history, and they really stand out on the shelf.

Edit: It was the Sogmaster, a robot who apparently likes things to be moist. Kind of strange for a robot.

My favorite cereal is Special K: Red Berries. Which sounds very Adult and Boring, but it's actually really tasty. It's not loaded with sugar like cookie breakfast or whatever you children eat, but my taste buds aren't destroyed by eating nothing but garbage, so it works for me.

Cookie Crisp, incidentally, kinda sucks!
Calm down, it was a joke. (FYI, Crumb, the Cookie Crook and Chip the Dog were the old mascots for Cookie Crisp back in the 80s/early 90s..)

I like lots of cereal, its hard to pick just one as being my favorite. (Froot Loops, Apple Jacks and Honey-Comb are among my top favorites though)

I go for Almonds and Oats when I'm feeling boring and healthy, and Nesquik if I need a sugar rush. Incidentally, I never eat breakfast cereal at breakfast.

It's fun seeing those retro boxes on shelves! Cereal boxart these days has some of the worst design on the face of the earth.

Seriously, LOOK at that logo! I think they actually beveled a bevel! You can't see it in this tiny thumbnail image, but the artist went so gradient-crazy on poor Snap, Crackle and Pop that he gave them drop shadows on the insides of their eyeballs.

Hard to believe the same company used to make packaging like this, not that long ago:

I really do hate that airbrushing style. It's just awful.

My favourite cereal was Bananabix, but, like Sky ice cream bars, it doesn't seem to exist anymore. All I can find is Minibix with chocolate chips, but I'm apparently too old to eat cereal with chocolate in it every day now. So I just stick to cornflakes.

We have bowls put out by Kellog's which have characters throughout the ages (e.g. Tony Tiger, Toucan Sam) on them. Also one with Santa Claus for some inscrutable reason. It's like they don't realize how much more appealing the cleaner, simple images are, and it makes for some weird juxtaposition.

Doesn't "upside down" imply rotation, as opposed to reflection? So boob upside down is qooq.

It depends on how you rotate it. If you (in your IMAGINATION) pull boob towards you instead of turning it sideways, it does indeed turn into poop.

As delightful as this diversion has been, I have to bring it back on topic. I opened up a new box of Cheerios today and found this on the top:
Big G Cereals are America's #1 source of whole grain at breakfast.
At first I was a little confused but I think maybe "Big G" is General Mills' gangsta name?

So that's why you're so flat chested.

One of my coworkers calls that Kellyclarksonitis, though it's an unfair name. It's more common than you'd think.

Remember when Sega said they give special thanks to the people who bought this game multiple times? Well here is that list of people...

Got around to playing Sonic 4 yesterday. (Demo was included in this month's OXM)

Pretty much everything I expected. Rehash city, with pointless homing-attack added on to make sure the game doesn't have any difficulty whatsoever. I liked Sonic's waiting animations though. It was okay, I guess. Nothing really wrong with the game, but it offered nothing new, the graphics could have been a lot better, and the homing-attack needs to go.

Anyway, Episode 2 is on the way, and according to SEGA Product Manager, Ken Balough..
I can tell you you are going to see new zones that look really cool.

Re-hash kind of depends on how you look at the topography. I mean; we’ve gone to a lot of areas – Underground mines in Sonic 2, Deserts, Lush green hills, Jungle, Cities, etc.

But yeah – the idea is to introduce new zones with things you haven’t seen.

I'm suddenly looking forward to Episode 2.

Maybe they could do Intestinal Distress Zone. Sonic is close enough to a gerbil anyway.

Because of Ken Balough? The crazy person who tried to explain once that Casino Street is nothing like Casino Night? That Ken Balough?

Hah, it's in "early development" now, huh. Does it not strike anybody as a little suspect that it takes Sega such an outrageously long time to make these?
