Re: Super Sonic Galaxy
Please. In Japanese it would only be marginally better because I wouldn't be able to understand the lyrics. The melody is shit, too.

Re: Super Sonic Galaxy
Why does every new 3D Sonic need a cheeseball vocal theme anyway? They all sound exactly the same and don't serve to make the game any better.

It has become tradition. Kind of like how some obscure place in Afrika uses dung for hut construction.

Well there is a crowd that still thinks they are legitimately good.

I would imagine said crowd also things several other things about this past decade's Sonic games are good (Guns, Swords, Werehogs, etc.).

Sonic Adventure's, SA2's, and Sonic 2006's were decent at least.

Re: Super Sonic Galaxy
I actually have no idea what people find so offensive about the Colours song.
I liked the melody from the first teaser (ie when there were no vocals) and honestly...I don't give a flying fuck what they lyrics are saying. I find them bad enough to be hilarious in the kind of way that's meant I've ended up liking them in the end.
Of course the easy explanation here is "You have fucking terrible taste." Regardless of whether or not that's true, I can't see why this is really that bad to people. At the very least it has some personality, unlikely the entirety of Sonic 4's soundtrack.

The theme is no worse than the themes of any post genesis sonic game. I don't understand how fans of "live and learn," "Escape from the city", and "His World" could accuse someone of having bad taste for liking this new song. They're equally terrible.gr4yJ4Y wrote:Sonic Adventure's, SA2's, and Sonic 2006's were decent at least.

The autotune and terrible lyrics are, at least, more noticeable than in past themes.

"Reach for the stars" does have some of the worst lyrics ever in a Sonic game, but I couldn't really care less about that either. Everything else about the song is quite likeable - and considering the light hearted context of the game, an inter-gallactic theme park, it has just about the right feel.

Those are more of 'punk rock' kind of songs. The new songs are what 12 year old girls listen to.Radrappy wrote:James McGeachie wrote:I actually have no idea what people find so offensive about the Colours song.

Both queer as you said - certainly! - but the new ones are significantly more flamboyant.

There's nothing 'punk rock' about Sonic soundtracks in any form.

Well OK! I really do not know what to call it, then.Malchik wrote:There's nothing 'punk rock' about Sonic soundtracks in any form.
My point is that songs like 'Escape the City' can sound cool to 15 year olds and so on, as well as people of lesser ages. What we get now I would have called 'gay' when I was 12.

Kogen, this is the 18th time you've mentioned the word "gay" in one of your posts since January 09. I don't know whether to call you obsessed, or just ask for your number.Kogen wrote:Well OK! He's using it as a euphemism for "autistic".

Which would thereby make it the 100,345th time he's mentioned autism since he first joined. Wonder if he's trying to hide something...

To be fair, 12 year old girls are a more significant demographic to the Sonic franchise than anyone over 20. They are just trying to appeal to their audience, I guess.
The lyrics and the vocals are what makes it terrible.

Re: Super Sonic Galaxy
To be fair anyone sane would make the game for all demographics because that sells more. Kind of like what Nintendo does with Mario (I only felt gay a few times playing Galaxy 2!).Ngangbius wrote:.Those are more of 'punk rock' kind of songs. The new songs are what 12 year old girls listen to

Re: Super Sonic Galaxy
Exactly. Most every Sonic game was made with an all-ages approach in mind, but now they say it's all for the kiddies?
I can see people using this to deflect criticism in future titles now.
"This game isn't very good because... (etc)" "It was made for kids you pedant. What do you expect?"
