So, now that it's out and most of you have had a chance to try it out, what do you think?

...Wow, that's a close vote.

What the hell. How am I the only person who has a 360?

I'd vote, but there's no in-between option. Although I'm siding more toward it, there's no way in HELL that I'd call this game "great".

I guess this says more about the general apathy towards next gen systems that we're all feeling, right? Even Sonic can't sell them to us anymore?

Don't give up hope until the wal-mart Demo appears, if that is still an abomination then yes, we are screwed.

I doubt you're the only one, but I think the vast majority of people here are waiting until it's extremely clear which systems are best worth their money. At the moment there's a couple of things on 360 that vaugely interest me but it's certainly not enough for me to put the money down.

Perhaps eventually I'll end up with all 3 consoles anyway but at this point I wont be picking up a PS3 or 360 until they've both been on the market for a while and I know which one I'm willing to fork out a vast amount of cash to buy first. The Wii on the other hand is pretty cheap so I'll possibly buy it at launch, however at the moment there's not much on that interesting me either until Metroid Prime 3 hits in 2007.

Not an X-Box person myself, but the video looked...average. That swerving camera on the jumps threw me off, but otherwise, it seemed fine. Nothing special, but not worth hating at any rate.

I'll just be holding out until the Wii is unleashed.

Two topics on this subject weren't enough, amirite?

I'm not going to lie to you all, I marked it as 'great' to provoke discussion.

Uh... that was hardly the point.

I don't think it really matters if it was the point or not, I wanted to post my opinions on the console situation and your post presented that opportunity. Perhaps off-topic, but it's not like anyone is even remotely following the new "rules" around here anyway.

I got one. No games for it, of course, other than the demos I downloaded. Which all sucked except for DoA, and the nature of DoA is that you can play a demo for 10 minutes and it's more or less equivalent to playing the entire game.

Blue Dragon still looks cool, anyway, and apparently they're making a new Banjo-Kazooie. I was halfway interested in Sonic until yesterday.

Well, the Live Arcade DOOM port was pretty good from what I played. Which was the demo. Which was E1M1 and that's it. (Kinda wish it was all of Episode 1, but oh well...)

So, I downloaded the Fusion Frenzy 2 demo. Everything I liked about the original (the mentally challenged announcer; Samson, the archetypal black guy) has been changed, and the outfits are dumb. Oh, and they managed to give Zack an even more annoying voice than the one he had prior.

Yay.

My brother recently bought an Xbox 360 so I finally have access to a next-gen machine. However, I hardly had time to play it due to:

a) my brother's been hogging the system 90% of the time

b) the following weeks have been busy due to exams and other school projects

c) the only real time I have to play video game is on my lovely Pink DS Lite and I'm currently addicted to Pokemon Mysterious Dungeon Blue and Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime

I did get to see my brother try out the Dead Rising and Lost Planet demos and both games look like fun. Congrats Capcom! Also Blue Dragon looks hot and if that game provides the same experience of wonder like Dragon Quest VIII, then it could become one of my favorite games for the console.

That said, I did manage to find time to play the Sonic 2006 demo and I have to say it's ass and makes me even less enthusiastic for the game than ever before. My brother agreed and promptly deleted the demo after lossing his lifes because of the shitastic camera.

...but did you play DOOM?

Or hell, forget DOOM, everyone says Geometry Wars is where it's at. I haven't played it much, though.

Geometry Wars is made of win.

I voted suck, because that's what this thing does. If it'd swallow, I'd never have to leave my room. >.>

Well... shit. Now I have a reason to eventually play a 360 (or keep it, if I get one as a contest prize or whatever). To anyone interested, here's the trailer:

I remember Banjo-Kazooie being a series of endless fetch quests. Terrible, endless fetch quests.

Yeah, terrible endless fetch quests. Jingoes, too. Had to get all five colors, I think. Yep. That was a blast.

As much as I'd love another Banjo-Kazooie game, Rare left all of its talent back in the 64 bit era. The only recent games I've played from them are Starfox Adventures and Grunty's Revenge, and they're both terribly mediocre.
