Hedgehog Humour

There have been many comic moments in the Sonic series, and some of them were genuinely funny. Which one gave you a, er, big smile?

These polls only serve to remind me how cripplingly awful Sonic's plots are. Which scenes were genuinely funny, exactly?

Most of the Sonic Battle scenes were genuinely funny, although admittedly, the lines of dialogue presented fail to capture the comedy of the scenes. (They need to be seen in-game to be appreciated).

Most of the humor from the Sonic games comes unintentually--such as the bad English voice acting.

"Oh-no-our-weapons-are-useless."

"Watch out Tails. You are going to crash. aah!"

And remember everyone's reaction here to when Shadow the Hedgehog was annouced. That was more comedic gold than any of the recent Sonic games combined.

The Emerl / Amy scne, of course. In fact, any of the screenshots of the English text from the Japanese version of Sonic Battle Green Gibbon! put up on that page make me laugh.

Thanks to God I wasn't exposed to Shuffle (except for some gameplay footage and that), but Amy putting Sonic aside for ANYTHING else in the Universe bought my vote.
That's the ultimate proof of how much fucked up Shuffle was.

Thats the reason I voted for it too. I agree to every statment there.

We need to find better topics for the weekly poll...

Hmmm, how about the way Knuckles tells Sonic to keep going in Sky Sanctuary?
No lines, but it was funny to see Knuckles get pissed off.

I never played Battle, but "Your punch got not juice, fool" makes me laugh. Unless it was a typo by big smile, in which case I wouldn't find any of them funny.

I'm glad you mentioned this, because I don't find any of the actual options funny at all. But bad voice acting always pays, and especially so when it isn't a matter of poor direction of a reasonably talented voice actor, but rather a case of it seeming like they just pulled some random guy in off the street and told him bullets don't work on water monsters.

I think the funniest thing in the series (aside from its failures) are Eggman's animations in the genesis games. None of those options really tickled me.

Disturbingly eager Tails: "I'll just plug this in right here..."

Well, no, I actually voted for the Amy/Shadow thing, but only because I thought that the Engrish was off-limits. If not, then any of those for the win.

Disheartened Cream to an alarmed Amy: "What are you taking off?"

It's mostly the awful acting/script.

"You fake hedgehog!"

Well, better thinking about it the Shuffle episode was more of a lame travesty than something actually funny. What I guess was something funny and/ or ugly was the animation of Sonic dying in Spinball.

That's some good idea for a new poll; which one is Jared best museum page joke... also, what about the main site? any update there we don't know of?

Every scene with Amy in Sonic Battle was pure gold.

Emerl was pretty charming for a Sonic character. He had that mix of other characters' personalities going, along with his own childish innocence, and, of course, the power to destroy the world.

I have the power to destroy the world and no-one thinks I'm charming.

You don't have the personalities or childish innocence.

The only scene in the Sonic series I remember being funny right now is the Team Chaotix/Team Rose encounter. You know the little prick wanted trouble, and he seized the opportunity.

I voted for the third one, but after my vote I remembered the first time I played Sonic Advance 3 with Amy as the primary character and fell off a cliff.

"Nooo!"

That girly little whine caused me to pause the game and laugh uninhibitedly for half a minute. Pathetic, no?

I voted for Amy's macking on Sonic, but it's way funnier in Japanese, because of the faster delivery of Sonic's reply.

The funniest thing I think that ever happened to me was playing SA2 in Final Rush or whatever Sonic's last stage is, and I was tricking through the stage pretty much perfectly until almost the very end where I jumped off a rail and miss-timed it, Sonic (in his Japanese voice) shouts "YES!" as he soars off the rail but then fell just short of the next platform and he sadly goes "Noo...."

Or maybe it was using Tails in Sonic 3 to hurl my friends down bottomless pits?
