Jammin’ Gems

Post by big_smile »

The museum remixes were one of the few aspects of Sonic Gems Collection that appeared to have any effort put into them - an allegory of the current Sonic situation, as music is the only element of the series that hasn’t devolved into mediocrity.

Which remix do you like the best?

If you haven’t unlocked the tracks yet, you can listen to them here.

Sonic 6290 Mix gets my vote, though I'm also partial to Fairy of A.I.F, if only because it has that classic Daytona USA voice. Was this an intentional nod in AM2's direction?

Fairy of A.I.F. is a hard thing to resist but I'm going with the Sonic 3 MegaD mix, on account of it's a great version of one of my favorite tracks from Sonic 3 and despite the huge collection of Sonic remixes on my hard drive, I think it's the only one doing that track.

The 2P race mode menu music also rates very high, and I don't have any remixes of that either.

I also went with the Sonic 3 MegaD mix. I haven't unlocked all the museum music yet (heck, I haven't even played Gems Collection in months), but that was my favorite by and far of the ones I did find.

Fairy of A.I.F.

I was always a sucker for Daytona U.S.A.

My favorite would have to be Sonic After-6290 Mix. It's not really diverse, and kind of repetitive if you listen to it to much, but I like a lot of the beeps and clicks and boopty-boops and things like that in the song. Plus, it kind of reminds me of Katamari at certain points. I also liked Sonic 3 MegaD mix a lot, and Living In The City LTN Mix made me want to get up and shake some maracas.

"Sonic 3 MegaD" is definetly one of the remixes that really caught my attention in the game. The other one is "Can You Feel The Sunshine ACID Mix", but only because it scares the hell out of me.

This is funny, because it's my exact same opinion of the song. For some reason it terrifies me.

I'm going to have to go with Sonic 3 MegaD as well, because it's one of my favorite songs to begin with.

I choose you, Sonic Boom D'n'B Mix. It's just a great tune made greater with some heavy kickin' beats and a choppy lyrical remix. Essentially, favourite Sonic song + drum 'n' bass = all around win. The only way I could like it more is if it was a ska cover; but then again, I already did that (winky face).
