If this news of SMC 2 is true, then I hope they include both Sonic CD's Sega and Mega CD tracks.

And...I never trust any upcoming game news from Gamestop after they listed Suikoden III for the Xbox. =P

I have that issue of Play. It's the same one the Gunstar pics came from, and it's just in their rumors column. For all we know they might have picked it up from this thread. :P

I really want to see Sonic R on there, I'm ashamed to say I could never find it over here... Saturn wasn't too popular at all

Sonic CD's a given, I'll wager my left nipple that the only reason Sega's doing this is to re-release Sonic CD

Try to nab a PC copy. They actually improved the game for the conversion, for once.

Here's an interesting passage I found from anothe Sonic fan on deviant art:
Fresh in from the press, and once again, Sonic World strikes first in the Sonic community to bring the news:

"Sonic Gems Collection" has just been officially announced by SegaSoft in Play Magazine. It's a direct sequel to Sonic Mega Collection and finishes off the games that Mega Collection missed...

...and so far, I've been able to CONFIRM 100% that Sonic CD and Sonic the Fighters (Sonic Championship) WILL be included among other games! Other unconfirmed, but very possible candidates, include SegaSonic Arcade, Sonic R, Knuckles Chaotix, and get this - a "new" classic-styled, 2D sidescrolling Sonic game! After all, it's been hinted at in the recent Shadow the Hedgehog interviews. Could we see NiGHTs into Dreams in here as an unlockable? We'll bring you updates as soon as we get 'em, but once again, with E3 just around the corner, chances are we won't be getting much more news until then.

I'll take that with a grain of salt. Or a grain of pepper, if you have any.

I'm taking it with every spice available. Until I see more solid proof then I am sceptic, or is that septic?

StephenUK bought a copy of Play Magazine, where the news supposedly came from originally, and he could find no mention of the game whatsoever.

The news about Sonic Gems Collection is FALSE.
True?

It seems like Sonic CD and Sonic the Fighters will be playable demos at E3. Hope Sonic CD uses the Mega CD soundtrack.

Special thanks to MC's Bartman for pointing this out.

I hope CD has an option for BOTH tracks.

Will the intro scene be the full version shown in Mega Collection?

Couldn't you choose from the various versions of Sonic 1 in Mega Collection? I don't see why they wouldn't do the same kind of thing with Sonic CD.

I can't wait to play Sonic the Fighters. And at E3, no less.
