Only in a multi-billion dollar industry could someone become a PR representative without having the first clue about the product he's pushing.

I always thought a sniper was a kind of animal. Guess I was thinking of snipes.

Do I need to say anything? I mean, this is pretty funny on its own.

According to that, this is just one of several Sonic games being produced. So there's some small hope one of them will end up being better than this.
Unless it featured a crippled Sonic raping Princess Sally in the skull, it'd kind of have to be better than this.

Hasn't that already been done? I thought there was something where you could download textures of private parts for DOAX.

I don't know why but I became incredibly uncomfortable when I read the term "private parts." That phrase just sounds so... wrong for some reason.

One twist may not result in better gameplay as seen in Chaotix
True, but for every Chaotix, there's a Mean Bean Machine or a Sonic CD.
the textures and rubbery characters will appear in the PS2 version at least because of the Heroes engine.
Yeah I'll agree with that. SH didn't port well on PS2.
Is a living breathing thing, the robot was a ploy of Metal Sonic to put doubt into his head about his existence.
Really? I never finished SH or SB all the way. I just saw the Team Dark ending and made an assumption.
ng to guess you are one of those kids who thought of Max Payne when seeing the Sin City movie trailer
...
I truly detest you when I should pity you, but the hell with that you n00b ass poor excuse of a person wanna be Sonic fan bastard.
I'm not a kid or a noob. I'm 24 years old and I've been a fan of the Sonic games since 1991.
hen was it ever stated that Shadow was faster than Sonic?
Sonic Battle. Apparently, that what his rocket boots are for.
Sonic Adventure was great. It's just after that the 3D games completely suck.
WTF? Have you actually played a Sonic game before? From the very beginning, they were always intended to be part roller-coaster, part dexterity test. Effectively running very fast in a straight line, collecting rings and dodging obstacles. Sonic Adventure wasn't even a Sonic game. When it worked, it worked. But for the most part, we had stupid fishing levels, button-hammering no-skill-required shooting levels, and way too many "let's aimlessly wander around a 3D environment looking for the next level" levels. SA2 was a step forward, because the Sonic and Shadow levels were almost complete ports of the old 2D style of gameplay, just done in 3D. But still you had to play through the crappy Knuckles and Tails levels to play the good stuff. And what's more, the stories in SA1&2 broke their own rules. Since when was Sonic set in the real world? The Sonic games are set in a crazy anime world where platforms float in mid-air and rock formations have grid-patterns painted on them. SH is better than both of them because all it really did was take the Sonic levels from SA1&2, and build a whole game around them. And gameplay-wise, that's all a Sonic game needed to be.

What? That describes Heroes pretty much perfectly, but it's not how the original games were at all! The levels were not "straight lines" but instead were huge, multi-tiered stages, with at least two or three major routes and plenty of sub-routes spread up and down between them.

And though there were "roller-coaster" portions, they hardly dominated the level design like they do now, and they generally did NOT require a lot of dexterous turbo-reflex action to avoid death. In fact, they were usually the most danger-free portions of the levels, and probably the reason for that whole it's-too-easy-you-just-hold-forwards criticism that the classic games were often attacked with. The level design usually found ways to slow you down before throwing a lot of enemies, obstacle-dodging or precise platforming segments your way, and because Sonic used to need a lot of ground to get up to speed, the game would keep him slowed down until he had navigated out of the more complicated areas. And that's not even getting into the boss fights, most of which did not involve speed in any significant way at all.

Sonic Adventure is the best 3D Sonic game so far because it at least tried to include all of the elements that made the original games great: the speed, the exploration, the platforming segments and the style of boss battles. I just wish they had kept them blended together instead of dividing them up into a bunch of weaker seperate games. But it sure beat tossing out everything but the speed segments altogether, which is what Heroes did.

Wrong, wrong, wrong. Sonic Heroes may have made the whole game based around the SA1/2 Sonic levels, but any sort of pacing was utterly destroyed with the team-play gimmick, where you had to switch to a certain character to continue through the linear levels. It slows the game down and makes it completely dysfunctional. And the level's in Heroes were far, far worse than anything SA1/2 had. As least when I was on a rail with SA2, there would be no need to jump off to dodge two incoming trains that would cause me to fall to my death, or having to use the homing attacks to destroy enemies in a line to cross a giant chasm, which barely worked most of the time. There were also fewer gargantuan pits in SA1 or 2 (and if there were, occasionally an updraft would be there to save you), in comparison to Heroes which has bottomless pits in an energy factory, casino, forest, swamp, haunted mansion, and practically every other freaking stage of the game.

Esrever is completely right in saying that Sonic Adventure has been the greatest 3D Sonic game yet. It had the right dosages of speed and exploration, few cheap deaths, cool boss battles, a good plot and most importantly, it was fun to play.

Sonic Heroes may have been tolerable if it weren't for the signs everywhere telling you which formation to use instead of leaving us to work it out ourselves. It's not even like it was difficult to figure out anyways.

And why in blue hell is there a HAUNTED MANSION of all things in a Sonic game?

Hey, some people are slow like that and need the signs. As for the mansion, until Heroes, it hasn't been done.

For the record, guys, the only games that Naka is working on (to my knowledge) are the ones for GameCube and DS. I sorta doubt that he had any involvement in the Black Blur's game. Aside from the story, anyway.

The Magic Box states "Sega of America announced they will release a brand new Sonic the Hedgehog title... etc." Notice they say Sega... of America. Not just "Sega", as they ALWAYS do any other time.

Of course, the rest of the quote goes like, "...for unspecified platform this holiday season, called Sonic Adventure 3: Shadow of Hedgehog. The game will have a darker theme and emphasis on action, and for the first time Sonic can shoot down opponents with his new gun."

So, um, yeah... I don't know how much faith to put into that Sega of America part with the rest of the inept reporting going on there.

I did that a long time ago pal.

Zeta wrote:The funny thing is, if any Sonic character were to be given a gun - it would make the most sense with Rouge. She's been trained as a special ops agent for the US government, she's an ex-jewel thief, she doesn't have many powerful uber-abilities like Shadow, and unlike Shadow - she's perfectly fine with doing whatever she wants as long as it suits her.

So yeah, Shadow with a gun is not only out of character, betrays the feeling of the series, but it also makes no fucking sense.

Rouge with a gun wouldn't be that out of character, it'd make a little sense, so it'd only betray the feeling of the series . . .

Speaking of which:

http://www.somethingawful.com/
If there's one thing the long-running Sonic The Hedgehog series is all about, it's using a handgun to kill the fuck out of your enemies in a gritty world. Right? Sega seems to think so, as the recently announced Sonic Adventure 3: Shadow of Hedgehog (that's 100% real) will feature a darker version of Sonic - creatively called Shadow - running through slums and blowing bad guys' cuddly little skulls apart, presumably to expunge multitudes of golden rings hidden inside.

To some this might appear to be an unnatural change, like a Mario title with nudity or a Tomb Raider game that's good. I say it's a move in the right direction, but it's still not enough. My finger is on the irregular pulse of the gaming community so I can safely state that no one wants originality or unique gameplay elements. What they do want is a bit of the old ultraviolence, a steaming side of the profane, a bowl of the macabre, a teacup full of sexuality, and a gravy boat filled with gravy.

Heads getting lopped off, exposed breasts, torture, geysers of blood, needles penetrating the viscous surface of human eyeballs; this is what it takes just to make a decent opening cinematic. In these exciting times, we've discovered that a non-player character with impressive cleavage is an acceptable alternative for an NPC with well-written dialogue, and that a main character with a sassy attitude can easily replace a carefully detailed backstory. By leaving out such time-consuming aspects of game development, creators can finally focus on making realistic blood spray patterns and cranking the brightness of each texture down to a level of darkness best classified as "gaping abyss of Starr Jones' vagina".

Think I'm way off? You're really argumentative, and wrong too. Not only is Sega on my side, but a crop of recently announced titles will back me up further. Like Shadow of Hedgehog, these games take classic franchises and update them with an amount of grit you won't find in even the biggest box of grits. Unless you shop at one of those places that sell eighty rolls of toilet paper in one package and giant canisters filled with twelve frozen pizzas.

Characters who can use guns.

1. Fang the Sniper

2. Dr. Eggman

3. Miles ' Tails' Prower

4. Rouge the Bat (maybe.)

I don't know? Maybe since ALL the classic games took place on islands FAR WAY from people we never saw them. Sonic Adventure was great and the humans were cool. It's just that Shadow's story and inclusion of G.U.N. that screwed up the Sonic universe. What faggot thought of that idea? Sonic games shouldn't be that dark.
