You know what trivial (yet increasingly common) misuse of the English language bugs me the most? The horrible abuse of the word 'literally'. "This movie literally blew me away!" is obviously nonsense, but even more nebulous phrases like "I've literally just done that" annoy me. What does "literally just" actually mean? I'll kill you.

It's supposed to mean that the movie actually blew you away as in a real-world physical sense. You know, like what "literally" is supposed to mean. However, people misuse it to the point of stupidity. Y'know, as if a movie could actually "blow you away".

At work today I got asked to empty the Christmas card recycling bin that we have at the front of the store from the end of December to the end of January. I noticed that it had CARD'S written on it. "Well," I thought to myself jauntily, "I'm sure CARD won't mind me emptying his bin for him". Then I cried a little. English language misuse makes me a saaaad panda.

You mean they do stupid shit like that in England, too? Whew. I thought it was just American stupidity, as opposed to general stupidity.

Sadly, language-tards are a universal breed.

My English teacher has an entire wall of grammatical errors. He gives us extra credit for turning stuff like that in. He calls it the "Grammar Wall of Shame."

That sort of mistake may be intentional.

And depending on the country that was posted in, it might not even be a mistake.

Too bad there's no bottomless pits in the south where rednecks live.

Since when were there any bottomless pits anywhere? That'd be so awesome.

Then you'd have to rig them so they played the Mario game over song whenever anyone fell in.

How do you know it was truly bottomless? Maybe Mario only fell a couple hundred feet and shattered his spine.

No way. Metropolis is style. If not just because of the music alone.
