Oh my crap. Look. Bush isn't the greatest president we've had, but Kerry would be much, much worse. He does not have the skills or the leadership to run a country. The Democrats made a huge mistake having him run for president. Bush won because the Dems were too busy with their thumbs up their asses to actually think about what they were doing.

Kerry may not have been the best choice (Dean was a lot more charismatic), but he was still capable none the less. This was a man who has been our senator for God knows how many terms, meaning that he has experence with government and actually made the laws, unlike Bush who only had experience as a governor before he made a jump for the White House. Kerry was also a Rode Scholar, which is something that cannot be said for most, if not all, of the other potential Democratic canidates. The man is so brilliant in fact that he changed his mind on some things whenever he recieved new information (he was not "flip flopping" because that would have ment that he changed his mind on things for no reason, nothing could be further from the truth). Another thing that Kerry had going for him was the amount of personal funds backing him. His wife, Tereisa (sp?), owned (or had partial ownership of) the Hienz ketchup company, which alone pulls in millions of dollars a year. Because of government restrictions a canidate cannot recieve more than a couple hundred grand from a party committie, but there is no law against throwing as much of your own money (within reason) at a campaign as you want, so sadly, the man with the most money wins the nomination. The Democrats needed to do as much campaigning as possible this time around because they were going up against a president (people who are running for a second term recieve more grants from the government than the competetor). This also was not just any president either, this was one who started a war and was still engaged in one, and everyone knows the statistic (which has become a rule over time) that whenever there is an election in the middle of a war, people will vote in the current president becuase of the carnal fear of uncertainty (I know that there is one president who broke this rule, I just forget who it was). All this adds up to needing as much money as possible to get the word out about the other guy, and since the government and other committies can only give out so much there has to be a wealthy candidate who will pay the rest of the bill. I hope this helps you, and if you have any concerns, please let me know. I am a Poli. Sci. major at Merrimack College, just to give my reasoning some credibility.Delphine wrote:If someone would like to make a convincing argument explaining how Kerry was a good candidate, please, I'm all ears.
