Sorry to resurrect this topic (and make it go back on topic again), but I believe that the last generation Lotus Elise was a much better car than the new one you see here. According to some, the handling doesn't seem to be as balanced and the design is a little exaggerated. It still is damn sexy, but by the time we get the car over in the states in '07, most of the lines we see now will be unreconizable because of the strict safety regulations we have.

EDIT: Actually, we will be getting this exact car, but only for one model year. Lotus is doing so badly over here with its sole model, the ageing Espirit (same model since the early to mid 80's), that it has asked our government's permission to sell it over here for just enough time to make enough money to get the R&D dept. on its feet so that they can get to work on the new model that will comply to safety and emissions regulations. Now I can let this topic die in peace.

Does anyone else here even care about cars?

if not, then nobody probabily cares about my avatar either...

EDIT: I let a friend use this account, so the avatar changed about a million times before I caught on to what he was doing. For those reading this forum for the first time, it was originally the new NISMO logo, or NISsan MOtorsports international.

I still can't figure out what it is. Smokestacks? Pencils? Candles?

I'd rather not know what it is, really.

Pig floating between two smokestacks.
It's from the cover of Pink Floyd's 'Animals'.

Whoo, I'm awesome. Although I have no idea how I was supposed to determine that thing in the middle as a pig.

It was assumed somebody had heard of the album Animals.
'Ha-ha, charade you are!'

It's the cover to Pink Floyd's Animals, which I hold to be Floyd's second-best album, closely following Wish You Were Here.

Image

It's a giant, inflatable pig that was held between two smokestacks of a power plant located somewhere in Britain.

Animals, which uses animals to represent people (much like, and loosely based upon, George Orwell's novel Animal Farm), breaks people into three different categories, and has a song for each.

First, there's the Dogs, who represent the businessmen who desire nothing more than to get ahead in life. Even though they may end up with all the wealth in the world, it's little consolation when they die alone, without a friend in the world.

Then, there are the Pigs, who represent the politicians. They are a greedy lot, who only look after their fellow Pigs and no nothing of the plight for their fellow man, or animal, in this case. They dish out slogans in order to keep the working class from rising up against them, but in the end they're just charades, and their power only comes from the fact that no one is willing to challenge it.

Then, last of all, they are the Sheep. The Sheep are the working class, who dimly slave their lives away until the time comes that their numbers need to be culled, and they foolishly follow the Dogs to a certain demise. In the end, the sheep rise up against their oppressors, but those who take lead end up becoming opressors themselves.

The coolest thing about the cover is that it's an actual photograph. They wanted a picture of the Pig between the smokestacks of the powerplant, showing that the Pigs held the power.

I hope you took notes, as there will be an exam on Friday.

EDIT: Jacked like a motherfucker. Oh well, my picture is bigger.

That doesn't look like an actual photograph.

Well it's easier to tell on the actual cover, but it is indeed a photograph.

I read about it. In a book!

Summary of Animals:

Pigs on the Wing: 'If you didn't care what happened to me,
And I didn't care for you
We would zig zag our way through the boredom and pain
Occasionally glancing up through the rain
Wondering which of the buggers to blame
And watching for pigs on the wing.'

Dogs:'You gotta keep one eye looking over your shoulder
You know it’s going to get harder, and harder, and harder as you get older
And in the end you’ll pack, fly down south
Hide your head in the sand
Just another sad old man
All alone and dying of cancer.'

Pigs(Three Different Ones):'Bus stop rat bag, ha ha, charade you are
You fucked up old hag, ha ha, charade you are
You radiate cold shafts of broken glass
You’re nearly a good laugh
Almost worth a quick grin
You like the feel of steel
You’re hot stuff with a hat pin
And good fun with a hand gun
You’re nearly a laugh
You’re nearly a laugh
But you’re really a cry.'

Sheep: 'Harmlessly passing your time in the grassland away;
Only dimly aware of a certain unease in the air.
You better watch out,
There may be dogs about
I’ve looked over jordan, and I have seen
Things are not what they seem.'

Pigs on the Wing, Revisited: 'You know that I care what happens to you
And I know that you care for me
So I don’t feel alone
Of the weight of the stone
Now that I’ve found somewhere safe
To bury my bone
And any fool knows a dog needs a home'

One time when I was listening to that album, my crappy D drive freaked out and it repeated the line "You've got to stem the evil tide" for about a half an hour. Entranced, I was unable to press the stop button and now I transform into a vigilante crime fighter whenever I hear a Pink Floyd song.

That totally happened one time I was listening to B.B. King.
