It looks like they're just confused by the added third dimension, guarding themselves against attacks from the front—as they have always—, unable to comprehend that they now need to watch out for their sides instead.Wombatwarlord777 wrote:

I would be just really goddamn happy if this were the upper limit for characters from here on out. It's a good range, and even if I wish dearly that Charmy would burn in hell, at least he's not another goddamn hedgehog.Team Mecha wrote:
This, meanwhile, would be a pretty great game cover with a little tweaking.
Re: Sonic Generations
Iizuka acknowledges inferiority of recent Sonic games, blames everyone except himself:
To his credit, he's generally listed only as "Special Thanks" in a lot of the bigger offenders: Sonic 2006, Secret Rings, Black Knight, and Unleashed. Does that excuse Heroes, Shadow, NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams, and Sonic 4? All this time I assumed he had a bigger hand in everything but I guess that was completely inaccurate. So originally it was more or less the same team working on all the different Sonic titles, but after a few years, for various reasons, we started to delegate Sonic games to different groups of people.
And everyone in the office has their own idea of what Sonic should be, so we started to see slightly varied, slightly different directions of Sonic games.
I was conscious of this, so I'm now back with full responsibility of all things Sonic. I have control over the direction of not just Sonic Generations, but all the Sonic titles that we will develop in the future.
So I have more control, and hopefully this will provide better appearances for future titles.
Re: Sonic Generations
It's impossible not to notice how often this exact question has come up in this year's crop of interviews. That must be embarrassing for him.
Re: Sonic Generations
Good.
Re: Sonic Generations
And the two Sonic Rivals game, developed by an apparently quite competent and passionate team initially as an old-school platformer, but then turned into the awkward racing game nonsense it ended up being as per Iizuka's personal decree.G.Silver wrote:Does that excuse Heroes, Shadow, NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams, and Sonic 4?

Re: Sonic Generations
Europe is getting a collector's edition of Sonic Generations that includes some extra goodies.
I'm usually quite cynical when it comes to these kind of things but I must admit that looks pretty cool.Included in the collector’s edition is a collectable figurine featuring both Classic Sonic and Modern Sonic, an exclusive, individually numbered commemorative “Gold Ring”, and a “20 Years of Sonic Art” book, containing never before seen sketches and images from the past 20 years. Also contained in the Collector’s Edition are the ‘20th Anniversary Sonic Soundtrack’ featuring a selection of tracks handpicked by Sonic Team, and the ‘History of Sonic: Birth of an Icon’ documentary, an exclusive collection of interviews and footage charting Sonic’s life from inception through to becoming one of the most iconic characters in videogame history. Limited edition lenticular packaging and bonus additional downloadable content for the game are the final components that make up this unique collector’s edition for Sonic Generations.
Re: Sonic Generations
Unfortunately "20 Years of Sonic Art" means half of it will consist of Uekawa's illustrations.

I've never bought a collector's edition game in my life, but I would actually have probably got this. I like the statue, it's cute!

So Ive heard this is coming to vita and I must say the decision irks me almost inexplicably. I have nothing against the vita but the idea to release the game on ps3, 360, DS, AND vita strikes me as a bit a slimy or desperate. Isn't it lame enough that a DS version is coming out? This kind of development strategy always reeks of a lack of confidence in your software. Almost as if by releasing the game on as many platforms as possible like a shotgun, sega feels like it will make up for impending weak sales. All in all, doesn't reflect well on the company or the final product. One or two consoles was enough.
Re: Sonic Generations
There's also a lot of evidence that a PC port is in the works.

I'm failing to see how making your product available to a wider audience is a bad business strategy. This is whining for the sake of whining.Radrappy wrote:So Ive heard this is coming to vita and I must say the decision irks me almost inexplicably. Re: Sonic Generations
Yeah, assuming the quality is maintained explain to me how letting more people buy your game is a bad thing. Do we even have anything approaching a release date for the Vita version? I don't think the Vita even comes out in the US until some time in 2012; it seems odd to expect them to rush out a port for a platform that isn't out yet.
Re: Sonic Generations
I think you're kidding yourself if you think the 3DS or even the Vita version is going to be up to the same standard as the console/PC versions. Why do new Sonic games need a shitty portable equivalent? Dimps has clearly been designated the B-ark and apparently now has to manage their projects around the real Sonic Team. SEGA should either axe them or let them do their own projects. (In light of Sonic 4, I would suggest the former.)

Re: Sonic Generations
I suppose it was inevitable, given the leaks.
I just hope they do like what they did with Metal Sonic and have you battle Shadow on Space Colony ARK.
