So are you like "high functioning"? 'Cause I don't know if arranging flowers in an appeasing manner around a naked girl counts for much in the eye's of society.
Actually that would explain the flowers + naked girl thing. His brain doesn't make the "uh, this is wrong" connection, just the "yay, this is pretty!" connection.

PPA, I don't recall you mentioning your autism. Although if you did so during your "autism is just a mean label!" post I didn't notice, because I was too busy thinking that my brother's autism isn't a label, it's the reason his damn brain doesn't work right.
Well, my point back then was that it’s only a label in the regard that only now does society actually perceive people with autism as not working right. Before this materialist society where everyone needs to make the most money possible, people with autism might just have been able to excel at and be appreciated for whatever it was they focused on: philosophy, science, bureaucracy, watchmaking, etc.. It wouldn’t surprise me if many great inventors and scientists were what we would today call autists.

Well, that, or they would have been beaten by their parents and forced to somehow fit into a life they would never want or be able to accept or even to bear, like Frederick the Great.

And, uh, well… I wouldn’t call myself “high functioning”, although I do tend to get quite good at things I get obsessed with. (It’s usually either obsession or complete neglect, rarely is there a middle ground.) Not to mention that these things tend to be a little out of the way, like heraldry, 19th century dramas, and ſo on. Oh, and I avoid social offline contacts like the plague and feel uncomfortable just talking to anyone in person for a few minutes unless it’s my grandparents. I guess that counts!

Why are flowers with naked girls wrong? D: (I made sure to censor all relevant bits so the “naked” part doesn’t cause any trouble!)

Back on-topic..

A few years ago, SEGA did a poll asking people what classic levels they'd like to see be re-made in 3D. DuskGolem from Sonic Retro kept track of the results.
-Green Hill Zone (had the most overall votes, and the most obvious choice)
-Starlight Zone (this one had the second most votes for Sonic 1 and quite a few)
-Chemical Plant Zone (had some of the most votes for Sonic 2)
-Casino Night Zone (had some of the most votes for Sonic 2)
-Hydrocity Zone (had some of the most votes for Sonic 3)
-Ice Cap Zone (had some of the most votes for Sonic 3)
-Flying Battery Zone (had some of the most votes for Sonic & Knuckles)
-Lava Reef Zone (had some of the most votes for Sonic & Knuckles)
-Doomsday Zone (also got a ton of votes)
-Stardust Speedway Zone (got a good size amount of votes and most from Sonic CD)
-Emerald Coast (had some of the most votes from Sonic Adventure)
-Speed Highway (had some of the most votes from Sonic Adventure)
-City Escape (by far had the most votes from Sonic Adventure 2)

Stages Not quite as high but still pretty up there: Emerald Hill Zone, Mystic Cave Zone, Metropolis Zone, Carnival Night Zone, Hidden Palace Zone, Sky Sanctuary Zone, Red Mountain, White Jungle, Pyramid Cave.

Ones not quite a lot but more than the rest: Labyrinth Zone, Aquatic Ruins Zone, Oil Ocean Zone, Angel Island Zone, Death Egg Zone, Lost World, Green Forest, Final Rush

Also interestingly enough they apparently never published the poll results and took the poll down once it was ended (but left up the comments to the poll, which is what this is based off of. Poll results could have been different by a bit)
Considering that A new version of "Escape from the City" is being recorded for the next big Sonic game, I think it's likely that these levels will be featured in Generations.

Sucks that Angel Island, Death Egg, Spring Yard and Aquatic Ruin didn't get much votes.

Ugh, Death Egg? For once I think I agree. Obnoxious slog, that zone. I especially hate those tractor-ring-dealies.

A potential theory, but do not think that this song means it is confirmed. This might just be a bonus track on the new Sonic Adventure 2 album coming out soon.

To each his own. I loved that zone. Especially the boss.

The singer said that it's for a new Sonic game.

Hydrocity Zone, Ice Cap Zone, Flying Battery Zone, Doomsday Zone? Frankly, I don’t understand either of the choices; the music for the first three is probably the only really good thing about them. Stardust Speedway is also one of the less interesting Rounds from Sonic CD; it’s fast and iconic, but certainly pales in comparison with brilliantly designed ones like Quartz Quadrant, Collision Chaos, or Tidal Tempest. I guess the Metal Sonic race and the speed is what lodges itself the deepest in the minds of more superficial players…
No Spring Yard Zone?

If we're judging the listed levels by whether they were fun I'd say they're all tops. And they could serve as neat jumping-off points for new levels.

If only I could ever play that 3D version of Emerald Hill from the japanese Sonic 2 commercial then I would die a happy man.

Drifting and sliding through a 3D Emerald Hill Zone would make me sad. I do not want to be sad.

And on a general note: how does he slide, anyway? His spikes would be digging into the ground to stop him.

The same way he reclines comfortably on that chair by the pool in Sonic Adventure, I'd imagine.

At least in Sonic 06 it’s been shown that his spines are actually flexible and can bend upwards.

Of course, this raises the question how he destroys robots, but we can just assume he rotates at such high speeds that he basically slaps them to pieces? (Way past cool, ain’t it.)

I said I wanted to play that 3D Emerald Hill, not a 3D Emerald Hill.

Emerald Hill is my favoritest of favorite levels. :>

So his spines are big jelly-like tentacles. Got it.

Oh for heaven's sake. Tentacle aren't like, magic protrusions! They require muscles or a similar structure to move them. His spines are obviously clusters of semi-rigid keratin.

Hey, Sega put a Classic Sonic vs. Modern Sonic poll up on Facebook! Let's see how close the votes --

Sonic can make his spikes go stiff for when he collides with robots and stuff or let them be flexible at will.

I feel like there's a huge bandwagon jump for the Classic Sonic vs. Modern Sonic poll. Modern Sonic looks kind of odd in 2D and Classic Sonic looks kinda weird in 3D. I'd probably be more on board if they were using a slightly edgier Sonic 2 or 3 version of the character. But I know they gotta exaggerate to really take advantage of the cross-over. I'm just not feeling the Modern hate.

Kogen is just trying to help out society. As soon as April ends though it's just him being him again.

Of course it is. That result couldn't possibly be any suprise to anyone at Sega marketing either; this is all one gigantic effort to troll for attention.

What? What bandwagon? What trolling? Are you implying that these numbers don't mirror the actual general opinion?

Only about 1/4th of the people polled prefer modern sonic? That sounds about right to me. It's like asking which is more popular, the genesis games, or the adventure games. I guarantee the results would be about the same. I myself don't hate modern sonic but it shouldn't be surprising at all that given the choice, most people would pick classic sonic.

That post from six minutes before yours (which it may or may not have warned you about) suggests "yes" quite strongly.

I don't understand what's so wrong with the current Sonic. He's leaner and his shoes look cooler with those gray soles. I'm neutral on the green eyes. I don't hate them, but I don't really like them all that much either.

(Though I have to admit, when the two Sonic's were running next to each other in that teaser, modern Sonic's movements looked a bit stiff by comparison)

I like both designs, but I find his modern one a big improvement over his retro look. Classic Sonic is cute and cartoonish, and would work best in a 2D game or a silly cartoon series, but modern Sonic looks more tough and heroic. IMO, He works best in a more action-filled, 'epic' Sonic game or movie than classic Sonic would.

Yeah and thats why I associate modern sonic with melodrama, and classic sonic with light hearted fun. And I think we've had enough melodrama.
