Sonic Generations

Familiar faces on those posters to the left.

^--Hahaha oh wow.
I liked the look of the truck chase as incorporated into the classic part. And the skateboard is somehow fitting and awesome to me!

Did not expect those guys to cameo at all. Are they "Wanted" posters?
And apparently Sonic the Hedgehog directed Chao in Space 2. Who knew!

Edgerock's a doof and trying to hotlink.
Here's the image.
It says "Nack the Weasel AKA Fang the Sniper".

Re: Sonic Generations
this is cool because the robots are coming out of the truck.
I'm a little annoyed at the spagonia teaser at the end. It really is a bit redundant when put next to city escape and looks more or less identical to when it debuted in Unleashed. Hopefully they have the good sense not to have then come one after another. Also, here's hoping the level design for Modern Sonic's segment doesn't mirror the original too much. But other than that, groovy.

Re: Sonic Generations
So Bark and Bean are officially "bad guys"? I wonder if that was the original intent or it's another case of fandom leaking into canon. And what's the second thing Fang's wanted for?
Hopefully Ray and Mighty will get a nod, if not a full-blown appearance.

Extortion. There are Ray and Mighty posters in the level too, apparently.Dr. BUGMAN wrote:And what's the second thing Fang's wanted for?

Ah! This guy spilled out PC at the end of the video.

Re: Sonic Generations
I dunno. It doesn't really look like City Escape to me, and City Escape is one of my favorite stages. I agree that Green Hill looks cool, but this one is a bit off.
Re: Sonic Generations
You aren't happy unless you find something to nitpick are you?

God forbid I have any semblance of standards!Rob-Bert wrote:
I wouldn't shake two shits at it if it were a new level, but it really doesn't look like City Escape, especially the classic Sonic part. Granted, the original architecture does not lend itself to sidescrolling gameplay at all, since most of the level has you enclosed between high walls, but I think they could've come up with something that would work just as well without feeling so detached from the original design. Where in City Escape did you run across thin scaffolding and walkways which bend around in the air forming loops?
The thing I liked about City Escape is that it felt solid, grounded and realistic unlike the "highway in the sky" levels that would make up the majority of the game (Metal Harbor, Green Forest, about half of Pyramid Cave, Final Rush, Radical Highway, White Jungle, Final Chase). It was cool the first time around in Windy Valley part 3, but they got carried away with it pretty quick.

I... it is, isn't it?Radrappy wrote:this is cool because the robots are coming out of the truck.
I don't particularly care about the difference in classic Sonic's version of the stage. If they feel the need to invent new stage components to better suit a particular style of gameplay I don't see anything wrong with it as long as they look good together with the rest of the stage. Based on what we've seen, I think they do. So: woo! Worst case scenario we're still getting new classic-style stages.

I've heard Chemical Plant music being played in the background of some interviews at E3.b_boult wrote:Please be bullshit.
You didn't have rails on Green Hill either.Neo wrote:Where in City Escape did you run across thin scaffolding and walkways which bend around in the air forming loops?

So you're citing something that's wrong as precedent for something that's also wrong? I'm not quite sure where you're trying to get.Alexrd wrote:You didn't have rails on Green Hill either.Neo wrote:Where in City Escape did you run across thin scaffolding and walkways which bend around in the air forming loops?
For the record, sticking the Sonic 4 corkscrew in Green Hill, complete with the unfitting extruding checkerboard design which isn't featured anywhere else on the stage and isn't even a gimmick from the original game also irks me a lot.
Re: Sonic Generations
"Sense of standards" my ass. You're only bitching about it because it looks different.
Re: Sonic Generations
I thought you were fine with it. Anyway, I don't think scaffolding is that "out of place" on a city-themed level. I thought it was a nice move.Neo wrote:So you're citing something that's wrong as precedent for something that's also wrong? I'm not quite sure where you're trying to get.

I am going to take a shit in a coffee can and label it "Rob-Bert". Surely nobody is going to complain just because it's different.Rob-Bert wrote:"Sense of standards" my ass. You're only bitching about it because it looks different.
(I just missed my chance at a great joke didn't I)
I don't think it's out of place either, but how much can you change and still call it City Escape?Alexrd wrote:Anyway, I don't think scaffolding is that "out of place" on a city-themed level.
This is only a pet peeve of mine. The fact that there's actually people getting their panties in a twist over my opinion is just gravy.

Speaking of silly, I can't help but imagine Dasher's opinions on the whole thing.
As for me, I'm growing increasingly interested in this game. Can they really pull it off this time?

Re: Sonic Generations
Neo is right in that it is different and will probably have a different feel than the original (at least in 2D), but it can still be a great level! It definitely looks like it so far.
Maybe they were trying to combine the feeling of that particular level with the feel of SA2 as a whole or something.
