You know, this is the first Sonic game in a long time where they say "Look, this game is for small children"

I found that 8-bit Eggman theme to be delightful.

ALSO: You can drill into cake. I think I may be ready to love again.

I for one approve of the robot Sonic level.

Sticking a dick on Sonic's forehead and removing the level art is not a 'robot Sonic level'.

I am also unsure of why people are pleased at 8-bit renditions of Sonic 06 music.

The music was the one genuinely good thing about 2K6, so I can actually understand.

I suppose that is opinionated. I think the new musicians are not too good and I just associate their work with terrible products.

Robotnik has much better themes they could already use. Lots of 8-bit ones, even.

Seven more things you may or may not know about Sonic Colours…

• Cubot’s voice processor is broken – and stuck on “cowboy mode”.
• If you run out of Wisp power when underground in Drill mode you WILL die.
• FOXY FACT: Tails isn’t as keen on high speeds as you might think…
• Pits of death DO exist, however when you approach a section where this isn’t immediately obvious, a hazard warning triangle will appear at the bottom of your screen so you do get some warning.
• FOXY FACT II: Tails’ toolbox is painted like the blue Tornado paint scheme, and even has his two-tail logo on it.
• Destroying all enemies in a built up area using a Wisp power or dash will get you a “SLAM” bonus.
• Starlight, star bright – is that a Motobug? Alright!
So... Badniks and Egg Pawns together.

Oh, good! For a moment there, I was worried they'd introduce a new character that wasn't completely fucking annoying.

With Sonic 4 they just lie about the features; with Sonic Colours the terrible things they do are selling points.

Man these tiny updates are so goddamn obnoxious. I hate that every new detail is such an event. I also hate that they're eager to show the whole goddamn game before it even comes out. It didn't exactly work well for Smash brothers Brawl and it doesn't work here. Let us discover things on our own.

First 3D Sonic to have playable underwater level (not counting Knuckles & Rouge stages in SA2). Complete with air bubbles.

We could always discuss the game's concepts some more, like how Tails is not keen about going fast despite being in the a series about fast platformers. Maybe then we could branch out to why Sonic is not keen on spinning and to why Knuckles is not keen on being interesting.

Knuckles and Tails ran at the exact speed as Sonic. So did Eggman. Are you really looking for some kind of realistic standard in the megadrive games?

I am curious and slightly terrified about Sonic Colour's story.

On the one hand, I'm glad they've finally hired some English-speaking writers to create the story and script, and I like the idea of a tone that's humorous and maybe even a little sarcastic.

But on the other hand, comedy is hard! The opportunity for failure is extremely high. You can tell from those in-level announcements that the dude who plays Eggman is just reveling in the material, but I worry that he's the only one who'll be able to pull it off. It's hard not to be skeptical about a cowboy Cubot... it's going to take some really stellar writing and delivery to make that funny and not just extremely irritating.

I'm just pleased that this one doesn't seem to be re-using the plot where Eggman unleashes a god that goes rogue at the end. Unless there's some kind of Dark Wisp God. Not to jinx it or anything.

In a twist, it will turn out that Eggman was the Dark Wisp God all along.

"No! I must unleash the demons" he shouted
The robot sidekick said "No, Robotnik. You are the demons"
And then Eggman was an eldritch abomination.

Mega Drive games?! This is Sonic Colours!

Apparently this game has the coin block stuff form Mario now, as well.

I like the idea that Eggman is faster than Sonic, for short distances at least. He's just to lazy and/or cowardly not to use machinery.

Tails rolling into a ball still baffles me, though.
