I think the term you're looking for is "modern marketing."

Surprise! We all called it.

Kanipanchi, according to the katakana. Nevertheless, it isn't an Egg Pawn, which makes me happy.

It's over, you can go outside and play now.

B-back to animal-themed badniks!?

No. No. That's not enough. Not quite. Bastards.

I'm disappointed and angry we're not getting Sonic's new friend Mr. Needlemouse.

Goddamn it, now I'm slightly excited about this game. Shit. Crud. Feces.

Using Shellcracker to do the advertising for them. That's just fucking low

So we're going back to Badniks but they are not actually going to make up new ones, just update the old ones?

Sounds like standard practice for Sega.

The first four games have enough variety in Badniks, they don't need to make new ones if they don't want to. There were something like 50, right?

The game has Sonic and the crab from Sonic 2.

So far it is as good as Sonic and SEGA All Stars Racing.

I was expecting So Much More...

...That's Kanipunch, from the Metropolis Zone.

...Why is Kanipunch from the Metropolis Zone considered "concept art" for this game?

I hope it mantains the game's quality from where Kanipunch is original of...

They don't have to make a new game if they don't want to, either, what's your point?

Yes I know I am being facetious, please don't take this too seriously.

Kanipunch was in the running for Hell's Freshest Badniks... five years ago(!). He didn't get any votes, but without Artificial Chaos' landslide victory it might have turned out differently. At any rate, Kanipunch doesn't exactly fill me with enthusiasm.

Some PR person wrote:Project Needlemouse is being created for the people who have long asked us for a game with only Sonic that harkens back to his 2D roots. We can’t please everyone, but we feel very strongly that there is a massive group of people out there who have been waiting for a moment like this to finally come.
Ahahahaha. Don't you love this totally disingenuous description. They're painting this game as a frikken BRIBE.

guhhhhhhhhh retards

I've been sitting on this for a while, but "we can't please everyone" reminded me of it. All together now: shun the tyranny of the vociferous. (that guy goes a little over the top with his examples but you can skip to page 3 and get the point)

The "Sonic Cycle" only exists because people again and again refuse to accept any responsibility for their own stupidity.

It's that simple.

The robot looks "nextgen" much like the new Metal Sonic, this robot is what we should've had in Heroes onward.

What I mean is it doesn't look "classic" as classic Sonic characters had simple designs and were not super detailed, what happens with Sonic is that since lets say Chaotix or SA2 it has not been consistent in either gameplay, looks or style.

But Look at Megaman 9 and 10, they look exactly how they did back then, but sonicteam says "F" that we gonna make it from the ground up each and every time.

What? That's bull - the 16 bit manual artwork for the MD games has most of badnik art looking like that; their sprites themselves look detailed and mechanic, too.

It's supposed to contrast the smooth, natural level art of 16 bit games, I guess.
But Look at Megaman 9 and 10, they look exactly how they did back then, but sonicteam says "F" that we gonna make it from the ground up each and every time.
As a matter of fact, Megaman 9 looks like DOS game and 10 has a bunch of Battle Network rejects as bosses - they sell mostly on people remembering Nes MM games looking much worse than they actually did (why is every other MM9 level set in a black hole..? In 5 and 6 we got to see some pretty colorful stuff in the background, and all sorts of cheap scrolling effects. In MM9, not so much.). I find that, uh, uncool...and can imagine a fake 16-bit Sonic game looking much worse than Sonic 1 or 3 do, especially since this is Sega we're talking about, not Capcom.

Man, they really know how to strike a bitter fan's nerve, don't they? I'm really digging the re-usage of that badnik. Finally some rethinking of character design - shifting focus from Sonic's friends to his enemies looks like a nice start.

Does anyone else fear that there being a separate drawing of the pincher from behind means that the game will end up being 2.5D?

I thought that was assumed? I don't think there's a chance in hell Sega will devote the time and resources to making this 2D.

Its funny how that Shadow 2 is actually better than what SEGA would create.

My guess is that the game will be 3D but side scrolling. :/

Well you are right, more or less looks similar but you can see what I mean, I guess art has evolved a bit? that's what I hope happened.

Still the New Shellcracker looks like a Gundam in terms of details to the old one, and that's my point. Still as long as the gameplay and everything else is OK I do not care, and please no voice acting.
