More characters have been leaked:

As usual, SEGA is not happy at how incompetent they are at keeping stuff hidden. Because knowing that these characters are in the game a month before its release is sure to affect sales tremendously.

How does Opa Opa drive a car? People might complain about Sonic in a car, but there's nothing to stop him from doing it. Opa Opa is a living space ship with no arms!

I hope Akira and Jacky are stuck in the same car together. Similarly, I like the idea of a rocket-car with both ChuChus and a Cat in it, like the ChuChus are driving up front, and the cat is in the back seat, slobbering at other drivers.

Buuuuut Tristan is being his typical egomaniacal manchild self. He claims he only took apart the ASR site because Steve Lycett snubbed him ("WAH I HAD NO CHOICE"), while in the same breath proclaiming it's all Sega's fault that he couldn't control himself. And dragging AAUK into his tantrum for serving him with the legal threat.

I don't think Sega has much ground to go to court over it either, but which is the lesser evil again?

It's Dasher being Dasher. Never mind him.

Anyway, call me crazy, but I kind of have to side with Sega here. TSSZ doesn't know anything about journalistic integrity, so screw him.

This really sounds a lot like that thing that happened with Kotaku a few years back where they got some anonymous tip or something and ran with it despite the company involved asking them not to, and then acted surprised when the company pulled them from their press-release/demo/review copies list. In this case at least, Sega probably should have made more of an effort to hide their code, considering the Sonic community's well-known love of poking through the innards of things.

That had to be intentional.

Not really familiar with or care about TSSZ, but neither party is winning any points for themselves with this. TSSZ shouldn't have revealed something that was clearly not intended to be shown just yet, but by threatening to bring TSSZ to court, SEGA of Europe is just solidifying their dubious reputation. With the appropriate applications, it's pretty easy to decompile a Flash file, and given how many times this has happened before, SEGA should at least have been more careful for once.

They're probably reacting like that because Tristan didn't play by the videogame news racket rules, that's all there is to it. See also Capcom and their lame show with Mega Man 10's robot masters' identities. Some people actually pay for this shit being some kind of "exclusive" revelations in their worthless rags/ sites.

Anyway no, I was just playing devil's advocate. For... both sides, I guess.

I was just wondering -- for reasons even myself don't know -- what are the odds that in the inevitable Mario edition will Mario be driving Monster, his Famicom Grand Prix truck, instead of his standard kart?

Image

It seems to fit the the build of the other cars more than that dinky thing.

Not sure what you mean by that.

At any rate, 3D Hot Rally is very Out Run-esque. Kismet?

If they ever made a Nintendo equivalent, that's probably what it'd be called.

Well, that or Super Kart Bros.

I always thought the Kirby Air Ride formula, albeit with a bit more complexity and less of the "one button" gimmick, could make a good racing-based version of Smash Bros.
