Sega announces Sonic & SEGA All-Star Racing
Re: Sega announces Sonic & SEGA All-Star Racing
Sonic R was fun. Never had much trouble with controls. Some characters had better handling than others and that is pretty acceptable.

Super Sonic was too broken. Even if you constantly crash into the rails, you could still lap everyone else.
R's soundtrack is a guilty pleasure, I admit.

I think that Knuckles robot was more broken, you could fly half that rainbow road to a shortcut without worrying about drifting.
I wonder why people takes seriously that "Sonic &" in the title of this game if it is just a Sega Superstars with a more commercial name.

I think you nailed it on the head. There are still gobs of people who are still familiar with Sonic. Fewer are aquainted with Ai-Ai and Amigo. Hardly anybody cares about Billy Hatcher or Alex Kid anymore. Sega is putting their most familiar and marketable foot forward for this game.
Does anybody know what franchise that snow level is supposed to be from?

Billy Hatcher, if I remember right.
Re: Sega announces Sonic & SEGA All-Star Racing
Still, people would conplain less if Sonic raced without a car...

Sorry, couldn't resist.
Re: Sega announces Sonic & SEGA All-Star Racing
I had a dream last night that Sega announced Sonic & Mario Kart through a surprise demo release on XBL and PSN (yes, I know...). They released the demo and asked players to give feedback for ways they could improve the game. The whole thing was clearly a scam though because the game was set to come out September 13. They wouldn't had had enough time to change much. The one level I played was rather hard, with bottomless pits you couldn't get past unless you used R1 to jump across them. And there were rail-grinding sections where the camera would pretty much go haywire and almost always left you in a pit. Apparently Sonic & Mario Kart was supposed to be the "hardcore" kart racer and Sonic & SEGA All-Star Racing the easier one made for the kids. There was also a censored Rage Against the Machine song in the game, which was quite confusing and distracting.
I think this just shows I have no faith in Sega to do anything right.

That sounds exactly like what the current Sonic developers would do, confusing "frustrating" as "challenging". In any case, you have unusually vivid dreams.
Re: Sega announces Sonic & SEGA All-Star Racing
If you didn't say it was a dream I'd think it was real life.

For a second there I thought they were recycling his old Dreamcast model out of some sort of fanservice, then I remembered that this is Sega.
I'd be happy enough if the left Ristar out; he's best left an untarnished memory.

For a moment I was disappointed Ryo wasn't riding a forklift, and then...

Gotta give them some credit for that at least. Now if only he asks the other racers if they've seen any sailors every time he pasts them.

'Cause the only reason to post is to complain.Kogen wrote:You have managed to complain about nothing, bravo!Dr. BUGMAN wrote:For a second there I thought they were recycling his old Dreamcast model out of some sort of fanservice, then I remembered that this is Sega.

Now all we need is Alis and her Landrover.
But some Golden Axe character riding a chicken leg or a dragon would be very appreciated as well.

Re: Sega announces Sonic & SEGA All-Star Racing
Think there'll be an option to turn that "All Star" item off? Seems like it kind of breaks the game thus far.
Re: Sega announces Sonic & SEGA All-Star Racing
That....must be the coolest thing SEGA has done in a while.
Re: Sega announces Sonic & SEGA All-Star Racing
Ryo should be on the cover to this game. He's probably the first(or only?) reason why this game gone from "ignore/wait 'til it's $20" to "Day one purchase!" for some gaming enthusiasts.
Re: Sega announces Sonic & SEGA All-Star Racing
Outside of being funny for some old fans of Shenmue, I doubt it changes anything to have a monotone guy on a motorbike.
Re: Sega announces Sonic & SEGA All-Star Racing
Yea, I still wont buy it for that, but I only wish it would've been done some years ago not now.
