It was polygonal in 1983? It wasn't 3D was it?

If it was 2D, they'd be sprites, dipwad.

It's perfectly emulated in mame. It's mostly just novel, but considering it was the first polygonal game ever, it's fairly decent. There are pictures of it here.

"Anyone ever see that movie Tron?"

"No."

I did see Tron. It was...weird to watch. Too many cartoony flourescent lights everywhere.

I didn't realise this until then, but images of the new menu system were released, but IGN only has them under PS2, not Xbox.

In case you didn't see 'em.

Those covers in the background are of the much more recent comics since SMC I think, so they've updated that. I wonder what else is there?

I've seen at least two people wondering what the connection between the game and the movie was.
After much research, playing, watching and reading, I finally figured out the connection between the book, the movie and the game!

They're all called I-robot!

Oh, so let me get this straight - instead of getting Sonic R, Sonic Arcade, Sonic the Fighters, Knuckles Chaotix, or Sonic CD . . .

We got fucking scans of Princess Sally?

Now I'm not just dissapointed in Sonic Team.

I want them all shot. In the legs.

And then hung. By the scrotum.

And then raped by people who think squirrels are hot.

Couldn't they use the time spent on re-designing the menus to add a few decent extras (e.g. concept artwork, beta games, TV commercials all of which wouldn't be too time consuming or costly to add)? It is design decisions such as these that extinguish the remaining embers of hope that I have for Sonic returning to his former glory. The new menus are too bland and so actually look worse when compared to the original GC version.

I wonder if this will get a release in Japan - neither the X-Box or PS2 versions are mentioned on the Sega Japan release schedule (Although it would be odd for Sega Japan not to release it).

^_^

I meant could you actually move in 3 dimensions, obviously the game looked 3D. In Super Smash Bros it is 3D, but you can't move in 3 dimensions, dipwad.

Yeah, kinda, but it's from a fixed isometric camera. There's a shooting mini-game that's 3D perspective, though. Cock coddler.

If they were going to use comic scans in the new menus, they could have at least picked one where Knuckles arms are the right fucking colour.

I think it suits the ethos of this whole "Plus" fiasco.

Why are Sonic Team even contemplating puting in scans of a comic that nobody gives a flying fuck about? I despise Sonic Archie completely: so shitty. Why not use the space to store another game instead of that shitty artwork. Oh well on the plus side, this will top the desserted Island list, simply because it has 16 or so games, of course there's only about 5 or 6 good ones.

End Rant

To be fair, some of the comics have neat covers.

How about, you know, just featuring the covers that have some sort of connection to the games? That would make a lot more sense.

Did you know that the first polygonal videogame ever was released by Atari in 1983? It was called I, Robot, though it had nothing whatsoever to do with Asimov's stories. Apparently, it flopped.

Just thought I'd mention that.
Random video game trivia:

1,000 "I, Robot" machines were created in 1983, five hundred for distribution in the USA, another five hundred for Japan. The machines were being delivered to Japan via boat when the game received horrible results in the USA, and as a result the Japanese machines were never put into use. The story goes that there is now an artificial reef somewhere in the middle of the ocean, made up of those five hundred machines.

Truth or fiction? You decide.

I find the image of a clownfish living inside of a dumped I, Robot videogame somehow fitting.

Poor, poor Assimov. He deserves better than what's been done to his work.

Sorry to spoil the party, but the Xbox has a harddrive upon which you can store emulators (among other things). You don't get them when you buy one.
