Richard Jaucqes and Tommy Tallarico on board, possibly? How much talent must they waste on this trash?

I don't know, but it can't be any worse than how Sonic Chronicles treated Jaques' work.

We've seen like, less than thirty seconds of gameplay footage so far. Lighten up, man.

Have you forgotten where you are? From now until far after it's release, there's going to be nothing but whining about it.

Whining that will all be completely justified when the game actually comes out.

I'm personally not excited about the game, looking at the videos that have been posted so far. But at least this game isn't on rails, which took all the fun out of Sonic and the Secret Rings for me.

Screw you anti on-rails kids. You have no idea what you're whining about. Secret Rings has a plethora of problems with it, but none of them are the fault of it being on rails. Sure, back tracking is a goddamn chore but it wasn't because the game was on rails. It was because sonic team fucked it up.

And for all you know, this game IS on rails. Guess that means you'll hate it no matter what.

Secret Rings had bad control for backtracking (which was possibly intentional to discourage the player from backtracking too much). It was too short and had some weird story elements. Not to mention the mini-games were terrible.

Some people didn't like the control scheme or the leveling up system.

It wasn't a terrible game like so many of you claim it to be. And really that's more of a matter of opinion than something technical that could lead to an overall dismissal of it (like most people found for Sonic '06).

From what many people here have said, it sounds like fans didn't like it based on the first sections of the game, which are slow and it doesn't throw you into it like you'd want it to. However if you have patience with it, it leads to a rewarding, enjoyable game. And now that we've talked about Secret Rings' pros and cons...

...let's move on.

Thank you! Yes! And while I would have liked a little more excitement at the beginning of the game, I felt the level up system was compelling and rewarding, though not really representative of the game if you just played it for fifteen minutes and shut it off.

The mission structure was goddamn awful in that game, and having to earn good controls is just poor game design.

There were no good controls in Secret Rings, unlockable or otherwise. I've always wondered where that myth came from.

I swear I saw someone on here say to stick with it until Levitating Ruin, which is where shit gets real, etc. Yeah, I got to that stage the other night and it was fucking frustrating as all hell. I mean, even worse than the bit where the dinosaurs chase you as you run towards unseen obstacles, and every hit leads you to be continuously trampled until death, which was stupid enough. It's like, more than half the time I'm not sure how I'm even supposed to be holding the damn controller. When it goes side-on? What the fuck is that?

Black Knight will probably be a pile of shit. But you move with the stick, and it's got robots instead of fucking genies or whatever.

I actually beat SSR (not with all missions, but I at least got the final ending after the YO WE PIMPED YOUR SONIC battle), and uh, it stays horrible in the gameplay department. The constant running forward coupled with the Wiimote controls do ruin the game. It's really awkward having to manually stop Sonic all the time if you're waiting for a platform and a good moment to jump. Speaking of the latter,t hat feels pretty weird too what with the charging up, sliding while charging and bizarre momentum mechanics. And a part of me really cries whenever I see Sonic constantly running into an immovable or painful object without me doing anything; like a retarded fly continuously bumping into a glass window because it's too stupid to realise that you can't fly through it.
But man Night Palace looked amazing.

I had a profoundly negative response to the game at first, but around halfway through I decided maybe it wasn't so bad and somehow tricked myself into enjoying the rest of the way through. When I think about it, I think I really did have some fun times. But as soon as I beat it I had no desire to ever play it again, and I think that's the most telling quality.

Dude, everyone knows that Morgan le Fay was guarded by several twenty-foot tall robots of certain death. And Godzilla.

They're robot knights, right? Swear I heard that somewhere. Still, anything's better than genies.

I gave up on Secret Rings after about an hour of trying to figure out how to jump or do a homing attack properly.
