anybody hear the final boss music? they failed on making it sound epic. It's pretty much endless possibility with an orchestra. It just does not translate as well as "his world."

Oh well, I'd enjoy hearing some more of your comments/critique on this thing.

I'm looking forward to reading that the final boss is the exact same BS we've had for the past several games - i.e., Eggman's giant monster turns on him, Super Sonic kills him dead. It's almost funny watching Sonic Team be so utterly formulaic like this so as to ruin it all.

I didn't even think it needed to be said. Re: Sonic Unleashed?
The title line was the hardest part to swallow, honestly. For a six-minute ballad, it's a pretty tight and well-produced track, if not lyrically vapid and dumb. Having suffered far cornier (We Can) and far more excruciatingly boring and meandering to pad it to the six minute marker (My Destiny, Whatever That Secret Rings Fucking Ballad Was Called), this is actually nowhere near as bad as I was expecting. I mean, not making it on any of my mixtapes or anything, but they've done far worse. Which is turning out to be the overall thesis for the critical response to this game.
EDIT - Oh God, it's stuck in my head. I hate myself for listening already.

Bastard, trading in Tails for a younger model.

Man, this sure brings back memories:

Shades of 1999!
(This is from the 360 version, which several places seem to be selling now.)

Purdy graphics. Doesn't retain nearly as much intensity as the SA version though.

That's because it's a quicktime event.CM August wrote:Purdy graphics. Doesn't retain nearly as much intensity as the SA version though.
OH! Also, I think there's only one, but the Wii version had a "quicktime" event during one of the text segments. I pushed "A B Y" three times to take out some enemies who were making people dance! It was kind of pathetic!
Re: Sonic Unleashed?
...I don't really see the point. Then again, including Weresonic didn't make sense either.

... why? :(Locit wrote:That's because it's a quicktime event.
It's as if this game's obsessed with taking control away from the player.
Re: Sonic Unleashed?
Oh geeze, I didn't even notice that! Weird.

It's been almost 10 years and the sonic adventure mini stage still looks more fun than the unleashed one.

Re: Sonic Unleashed?
"Special Friends" aside(Really? Of all the titles to pick...), what I've heard of the music in this game is amazing. I love that Apatos temple music. And while I still find the 4kids Sonic to sound kind of bored, the English voice acting isn't too bad, with decent dialogue even! Eggman's VA in particular is giving a nice performance, though I could be somewhat tricked by the amazing animation. Whoever rigged the Eggman model is to be commended; it's delicious. If Sega can release more shorts like this, shit, I may start forgiving them for the mediocre games.
When they get so much right with the presentation(and even advertising- making an animated short available for no charge is a fun and cool move), it's so upsetting that somebody making the game design decisions can take gameplay that could be enjoyable and turn it into a chore. I mean, some people at SEGA are doing their jobs right. The other guys need to step it up a bit and quit making everyone else look bad.

I am so glad to see the last of creepy front-mouthed Sonic. He always looked terrifying. One of things I really wanted to realize was to have Sonic’s mouth on either side of his face.
Sonic’s mouth is always on either side of his face, never in the center. This is pretty hard to do in 3D images. But for me, “proper” Sonic has to have his mouth towards either side of his face. After a lot of struggling, I have succeeded in what I started with, although there is always a room for improvement.
Re: Sonic Unleashed?
What could you possibly mean?
Re: Sonic Unleashed?
I never really thought the front-mouths sucked. I just thought the mouths sucked period. They can still look pretty awkward at times even now, though not nearly as bad. Either way, with all the effort spent on that bit of pedantry, you'd think they'd revive other iconic, classic design sensibilities as well. Like, say... Badnik design.
... It still feels wrong to see Eggman labeled as a 'rival'.

Re: Sonic Unleashed?
That Sonic Unleashed shot is a perfect representation of Sonic, in my humble opinion.
Maybe Sega's so hell bent on taking control away from the player because they're slowly transitioning to no control at all (i.e. movies).
Why not? That's apparently the best part of the games at this point anyway.

Been playing the 360 version for some time now, thank you Gamestop, and the Wii version should'nt even be allowed to share the game's name.
This version so far has been pretty much 50/50 in how much time you play as hedgehog and werehog, and the werehog stages are actually FUN in this version.
