Ditto.I don't think Shade is a very good name for a series that already has a character named Shadow.

10 dollars says somebody has already written some ShadexShadow fanfiction.
Re: "Sonic Chronicles" trademarked by Sega
Shade's already been subject to Rule 34, so I've heard. Even though we don't even know exactly what kind of animal she is or what she looks like.cjmcray wrote:10 dollars says theres already ShadexShadow fanfiction.

Re: "Sonic Chronicles" trademarked by Sega
What's Rule 34? I've seen it in two topics today.
Re: "Sonic Chronicles" trademarked by Sega
You'd better learn it, since this is a Sonic forum and these things tend to be unavoidable.
You know, I'd really like to see them go back to the old character set: Chaotix, maybe Bean and Bark, Fang, Amy, Ray and the main three. I think that's plenty right there, and they're all pretty diverse as far as ability sets go. It's not going to happen, but it'd be neat.
Come to think of it that really only gets ride of Rouge and Shadow, but I'm still OK with that!

Since we know of 7 out of the 11 playable characters, anyone want to take a guess as to who the last four will be?
Re: "Sonic Chronicles" trademarked by Sega
3 of the 4 are probably going to be the Chaotix, because if Vector weren't playable, no one would bother playing the game. The last is probably Shade herself, where she realizes the error of her ways towards the end of the game once Eggman reveals himself as the main villain and is bound to gain control of both dimensions.

Re: "Sonic Chronicles" trademarked by Sega
This might be a little too hopeful, but I'm voting for Nack, Blaze, Chaos 0, and E-102 or E-123. Nack due to his relationship in the older games, Blaze due to her prominence in the newer games, especially those on Nintendo systems, and Chaos 0 and E-102 due to their appearance in Sonic Battle (and, of course, the interesting special moves they could have).
I'm predicting right now that each Chaos Emerald you earn teaches you a new attack of somesuch.
And my fileden account is dead.

An RPG is the perfect opportunity to re-introduce some characters that haven't been seen since prior to Sonic Adventure. Great Battle Kukku 15th and his gang (from Tails Adventures), Fang, Bean, Bark, Metal Knuckles and Tails Doll in particular are all very fun characters with a lot of potential. Maybe even find some use for Mighty and Ray.
If they really need to use some of the newer characters then how about Gemerl from Sonic Advance 3?
I'll be disappointed if Cream, Silver or E-123 Omega take up any of the remaining spots on the main team roster.

Bitter? Me? Never.
Re: "Sonic Chronicles" trademarked by Sega
He's right, of course. Actually, I suspect only 3 original characters, since the 11th will undoubtedly be Super Sonic.

They should also find a way to incorporate Muzy from Sonic Rush Adventure.
Damn, he beat me to it. Maybe you'll be able to transform into Super Sonic once you recollect all the Chaos Emeralds and do some kind of ritual/ series of steps in order to begin the transformation and subsequent obliteration of the enemy party.
If this was being developed by Square Enix, the Chaos Emeralds would be a goddamn side-quest.

I think it'd be really cool if Eggman was one of your party members, but it doesn't sounds possible based on the info in that article. Like, he could use some sort of all-purpose gadget for his weapon.

Rule 34: If it exists, there is porn of it. No exceptions.
Re: "Sonic Chronicles" trademarked by Sega
I'd expect this to be Tails' gimmick, actually. It doesn't look like so from the screenshots so far, but it seems logical that they'd play on his role of mechanical genius in the Sonic games. He used the "Magic Hand" device in Sonic Battle, so I can easily see him using gadgets for at least special attacks, if not for normal combat.Protodude wrote:I think it'd be really cool if Eggman was one of your party members, but it doesn't sounds possible based on the info in that article. I've always been curious on the etymology on Rule 34. Are there any rules 1 through 33?

Re: "Sonic Chronicles" trademarked by Sega
I don't know about this. The game is set 2 years after Sonic defeats Eggman. Whenever that is. I'm not saying that there won't be any new playable characters, but I don't think they will become permanent members of the cast until Sega ages the canon by 2 years. Or they'll just ignore this game and throw them in the next game. One of the two.The Ghost Of Ember wrote:All original characters who shall become permanent members of the cast.Ngangbius wrote:Since we know of 7 out of the 11 playable characters, anyone want to take a guess as to who the last four will be?

That being said though, I hope it is the Chaotix, just because its the Chaotix. And I hope there is a shed load of cameos. (Omega, Metal Sonic, Fang, Bean, Bark etc.)
On this two years thing; the events in S3&K/ Sonic Adventure/ SA2 are mostly sequential, aren't they?
So, if this game took place after S3&K, but before SA, it would make sense if only the characters from SA show up, but then there's no explanation for Shadow and Rouge being in it.
Soooo, maybe the last time Sonic defeated Eggman refers to another instance from another game, which could be Sonic 2006 or Sonic Rush Adventure, if not some other randomly picked situation.
And I was being sarcastic, I already know "The Law" kids.

True, they could use something like "Dusk" or just call it Slad (for Shadow lizard Demon) and be done with it...Crazy Penguin wrote:I don't think Shade is a very good name for a series that already has a character named Shadow.
Looking forward to this one, hopefully it'll be along the lines of Mario & Luigi.

Come on, there's probably a good few members of the "Dark Brotherhood". Expect to meet not only Shade and Dusk, but also Dread, Despair, Gloom and.... Ebony?
The possibities are virtually endless!
Thinking about this has me wondering if "Black Doom" will make an apperance....not that I played Shadow and have any clue who or what he is.

I know at least Rules 1 and 2 ("you don't talk about /b/"... or maybe about 4chan itself, one of the two). Most of the rest were random crap up until the generally standardized Rules 34, 35, and maybe 42 (the latter two being "if porn does not exist for it, it will be created" and "it needs more desu, no exceptions", respectively).DackAttac wrote:I've always been curious on the etymology on Rule 34. Re: "Sonic Chronicles" trademarked by Sega
Why is it that I check the news forum every day to face only disappointment, and yet when I go off and have a social life for a couple of days some bombshell motherfucker like this drops?!
You know, I love the art direction so much right now. It looks super cool. One might go so far as to say I am stoked. I just can't help feeling I'd appreciate it more if Sega just forgot Sonic existed for a couple of years and let all the bad publicity cool down. I feel like there's five Sonic games flying at me from all directions at any given time, and they're all shite. I remember getting excited about Sonic Adventure 2, because there was nothing else around to lessen the impact. Hell, I remember getting excited about Sonic Heroes! Now, I just groan at every spinoff and every minigame collection because even though they could be quality titles, the sheer quantity alone diminishes the excitement.
Sonic's just not the character to be paraded around in half-assed, ill-conceived "adventures". I know Sega can already smell the money they're making, but they should really take a leaf out of, say, Valve's book, and realise that taking more time to produce a great game is ultimately the better solution; one, the consumer builds anticipation for the product and is more likely to buy it, regardless of reviews, and two, because they might actually squeeze out a game worth fucking playing. If BioWare can pull this one off, maybe they'll be given free rein over the next 3D Sonic, and maybe, just maybe, they'll be the ones to pull the hedgehog out of his five-year funk.
Having said that, I bought Secret Rings and it's actually pretty fun, in a "buy it for £20 and play it for an hour or so at the weekends" kind of way. Go figure.

Okay, I just saw some more pictures, and I've gone from "stoked" to "quivering with anticipation". It's like Crash Bandicoot and Blade Runner had a surrogate child in a LucasArts womb. I've already got a semi, and I might burst into tears at any moment.
