O_o Really? That must've been one interesting PhotoShop...or an even MORE interesting beta screenshot. Any chance of a picture or two to show us?

"Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood".

Odd title. Very un-Sonic-like, but Bioware's typically pretty good, so let's see where this takes us.

Yeah as I said on another MB it doesn't sound like a comedic, light-hearted title, but something that was influenced by Archie and serious Sonic games like Sonic 2006. Bleh.

Honestly, as long as the plot is handled well, I couldn't care less whether the characters were human, furry, alien, robotic, invisible or whatever.

The problem is that a title as generic as "The Dark Brotherhood" implies a very clichéd plot, which doesn't bode well for it being handled properly. Time will tell, there.

"The Dark Brotherhood"... sounds totally retarded.
Is it supposed to be mysterious, creepy, frightening? It's stupid.
Like, Organization XIII stupid, only more generic.
Locit wrote:Nope. Also, isometric blows.
Man, that's fugly. Isometric blows alright, but I thought we all were well past low-res PSX 3D graphics by now.

I see it a lot more like "Sonic Adventure+ stupid quests"

Quest 2: Amy forces Sonic to find Cheese The Chao, get it, then give it to Cream the rabbit, and get 50 rings.

Quest 12: Sonic learns Breakdance!

New info from a neogaf member and NP
In game graphics have a water color look, all hand drawn
-4 party members at a time
-Each character can do certain things ex: Tails can float over things (standard stuff)
-11 party members total - 8 known are Sonic, Tails, Amy, Knuckles, Amy, Rouge, Shadow, Big the Cat
-Control done fully with stylus - think Hourglass
-Able to split party into teams at certain moments
-Rings are used as currency
-No random battles, see enemies on the field
-Turn based battles, choose commands for everyone in your party before they actually follow through. Want battles to be fast paced
-Elite Beat Agents style special attacks
-Team attacks (like Chrono Trigger)
-"Fatigue Points" instead of MP
-Choose which attributes to increase when you level up
-Purchase and level special attacks
-Bits of story - Sonic's on vacation from defeating Eggman 2 years ago. Gets a call from Tails that Knuckles has been kidnapped by a group called the Marauders, and that 6 chaos emeralds are missing. Eggman not the main villain. But Bioware wants to make him a creditable bad guy again. Something about a "twist" between Eggman and Sonic that goes back to the earlier games.
-2 acts - first takes place in standard Sonic areas. 2nd takes place in a darker world
-Remixed classic tunes
-"fully animated cut scenes"
-simple dialogue trees
-Side quests

Quick, someone post scans now, if you have NP or know anyone who does!

Holy crap! This might be a Sonic game I can be excited for; western developer developing on a western-style story. I'm glad they seem to be doing it M&L style, too. And by 2 "acts", that means two parts of the overall story, right? Not like every area literally has two acts, right?

Also, I now detest living on the east cost. I'll scan as soon as I get my copy, making sure the text is still readable when on photobucket.

Remixed classic tunes? Seriously!?

That "darker world" thing kind of scares me, not because its "dark" and probably full of those "Marauders" but you know...

Of course, no matter how much they flesh out the Sonic Universe in this game, it'll probably be a waste by the next big Sonic game. Can't tell if thats a good thing or a bad thing yet, but damn this game just plain caught me off guard. I just really wonder how far off Bioware is willing to venture from their typical style. I've never been a big fan of their work, competent and ambitious as they are sometimes...

Also, Big the Cat. Scans would be greatly appreciated.

Sonic's on vacation from defeating Eggman 2 years ago.
This is the first instance of a designated period of time passing between games, and it's a pretty big one. If the last time Sonic fought Eggman was 2 years ago and he's met Knuckles, that means he's at least 18 unless they've changed his age again.
6 chaos emeralds are missing
Subtle indication that the cast has finally begun keeping tabs on them after all this time.

Rats. I was hoping the combat wouldn't be turn-based. Bioware makes good games, and I didn't want to be left out of this one just because it's a genre I never, ever enjoy.

Well there's a waste, I think WoK's RPG had a better use in mind that involved damage in battles.
-2 acts - first takes place in standard Sonic areas. 2nd takes place in a darker world
>:( I get baaaad Mario & Luigi 2 vibes from that.

Hope the actual article paints these in a better light.

Hand drawn art! Weird looking critter! Ominous, easy-to-miss spaceship-like thing in the background!

Well, I like the watercoloring on Sonic. Though that monster seems inspired by NiGHTS.

Judging by the tail and the nostrils, I'm officially going to guess that it's some kind of lizard.

You've obviously gotten your vibes crossed, as Mario & Luigi 2 was amazing, and if this game was up to the standards of that one, there isn't a single part of me that would be disappointed.

Well I love the art. I'm sure the 2 missing characters from the party are either Eggman or BioWare originals . . .

It was shorter than the first one, way too easy, and there was much less exploration.

Why are there two Amies?

Yeah, well, all we have is a silhouette and I'm already more impressed with BioWare's original character designs than Sega's.

The watercolor look really makes me feel that this wouldn't have happened without Secret Rings' relative success (speaking of, I just can't bitch about this game having a stupid title as long as SR exists).
