Billy Hatcher wasn't bad per se, just mediocre. It had enough good ideas to have been a great platformer under a better development team. The direct controls weren't so much of a problem as some of the egg physics, like when you'd do a spin jump and the egg would get stuck on a ledge whilst Billy falls to the lower level or when they wouldn't hook the rails correctly.

The concept has too much charm and potential to be discarded, it just needs the right talent behind it.

I want another Billy Hatcher game if only for the multiplayer. That shit was awesome, especially with 4 people. I wish I hadn't lost it...

I don't think Billy Hatcher's controls are bad, what I don't like about the game is the multi courses in the same stages a la Mario game, I hate that, I hate Mario games

I hope they do a good job of this one. Getting all your favourite characters together in one game can be so much fun (smash bros) or so frustrating (sega superstars eyetoy) depending on how much love is put into it. But two things have me hopeful. One, sega makes better tennis video games than any other company on the planet. And two, jet set radio stages and characters!

I hope it's a sign that they're thinking of dusting off the Jsr license. After all, they've never brought it into one of these crossover games before...

... Wow, that actually wasn't expected.

OK, one in, three left. Maybe they could put in "The Hacker", from that trippy game.

Hmm, Beat from JSR, and Shibuya Station from JSRF, strange

I hope there is more than one character per franchise: Pudding, Gum (I really don't care for anyone else xd)

If someone from Skies of Arcadia is in it I'd have to buy it on principle.

It'd be nice if this tennis game digs deep into Sega history. Also, I'd really want a Virtua Tennis stage and a Virtua Tennis character.

I'm really looking forward to this game, as it'll be an easy introduction into some of the series I don't know. I just hope we get a good breadth of characters - I'm a bit concerned that there will be too many from the Sonic series.

I don't particularly give a shit about this game, however I have to say that the DS version looks visually stunning on the system.

For the record that statement actually was non-ironic. Well assuming it runs at a decent framerate anyway.

They really ought to include some sort of Master System themed stage if nothing else, just as a tip of the hat to those characters who aren't playable, just so they could slip 'em into the background. I can see how a lot of Sega's more obscure characters wouldn't really be relevant anymore, but then Ulala and JSR are pretty obscure themselves (unless, like NiGHTS, Sega's planning some new ones). I'm disappointed by the apparent lack of Golden Axe and I don't even like those games, it would just be an awesome stage. If the Smash Bros staff were behind this they'd surely have done all those things!

Alex Kidd....confirmed. Read the text in the scan below.

http://img174.imageshack.us/img174/9691 ... fb1lp1.jpg

Also, someone from GameFAQs is reporting that ONM had a preview of the game.
::They were very pleased with the game.
::Most of the stuff from the Wii version will be in the DS version.
::One level is set on a beach next to the courts from Outrun.
::Each court has three music tracks, either straight from their own games or remixed. The Sonic level features Green Hill Zone (Sonic 1), Emerald Hill Zone (Sonic 2) and Palmtree Panic Zone (Sonic CD).
::The minigames are apparently 'very interesting'. They include hitting zombies with tennis balls in a House of the Dead level and replaying the first level of Virtua Cop with a tennis ball launcher instead of a gun.
::The DS version will not have the Superstar Mode (which is a mission-based career mode).
::The UK release date is March.
::The NiGHTS stage is based off the Dream of Highlands: Pure Valley level of the Wii version of NiGHTS.
::The Jet Set Radio level is called Shibuya and has the soundtrack from the level in Jet Set Radio.
::The Super Monkey Ball level is based off an early stage in Banana Blitz.
So there you have it.

You can see some shots of the beach course (ps3/360 version, I'm pretty sure) over here:
http://wii.advancedmn.com/media.php?gameid=1765

There are also a few shots of a mechanical area that is either meant to be an Eggman stage or a reference to some other game that I don't recognize. It's nice to see so much love put into the look of the courses, although I'm not entirely sure what the point is if the only differences are just cosmetic ones.

The Wii shots have actually looked really good so far, though obviously they've got nothing on the higher-powered version.

DS:

Interestingly, the lighting/colours in the DS version match the 360 version, while the Wii is different. I wonder if that Wii shot is an earlier version of the stage?

That mechanical level is defiantly supposed to be some sort of Eggman base. It’s got the robots from Sonic Next at the sides and in the low shots you can see a hologram of Eggman’s face. Annoyingly it looks better than any part of Sonic Next at all. NiGHTS is looking quite cool too but his stage looks a bit barren.

I still don't know which version to get. 360 is going to look great but for Wii it'll be a good party game. I think my want to see some Sega icons in their full glory will win out.

Oh right, Sonic Next! I'd forcibly forgotten all about that one.

You can also see Metal Sonic lurking in the corner.

Here's the prerendered trailer

http://media.xbox360.ign.com/media/142/ ... ids_1.html

I have to admit. I fucking loved it. Great use of classic sound effects when eggman blows up. Also AmigoI blushes at sonic and winks.

If there are any phantasy star characters I will be good to go.

It was brilliant, but why can't Sega games ever make me this giddy anymore?

Why couldn't this have been anything else than a Tennis game?

I love how Sonic is apparently just passing by, sees them all playing tennis and says "oh hey why not".
