No, no, this website is The Green Hill Zone. Not Green Hill Zone.

This does look to be the year of the music game. I'll have to try this one out just to see how the Wiimote holds up.

...Are You Gonna Be My Girl? Really? Have we just thrown the south-of-the-border theme into the wood-chipper?

Dude, get over it. You can always choose not to play the game, but as long as it's including all of the original experience fully intact I see no reason to whine.

Fair enough. And they could do worse, it's just that with everyone and their mother making a rhythm/music game, I look to the tracklist to carve out the game's niche. I missed the part where they said it was downloadable content, though, which means I'd also have to dredge up Supersonic Racing & Open Your Heart as comparison (and I can pretty much guarantee I won't be dipping into my savings for anything that doesn't come in the box when I buy it anyway.)

So IGN is posting Gearbox's developer diary for Samba. There's only one page, but it seems that Gearbox went to Sega about the project originally.

My brain is spinning trying to figure out why exactly they needed to get a cover group to perform a song written and performed for Space Channel 5 when they had no problem clearing the rights to Ozomatli, Rihanna, Reel Big Fish (who I suppose are technically a cover band in this context) and War. Still, looks to be fun.

Now the nagging question in the back of my head is "Is it possible to fuck this up?"

I showed no interest in this title before, but that Ulala cameo caught my attention so I think I'm going to buy this eventually.

Samba de Amigo for the Wii is an upgraded port of Samba de Amigo Version 2000, I was ever interested in the game, but since I already have a Wiimote and a Nunchuk, I may try it.

It's the same RBF song in the original Samba de Amigo.

Were pictures of the final design of maracas attachments posted? If not, here's what they look like:

So here's the specifics on what it took to get the controls right. Most interesting is they ran all testing concurrently to development.

We came up with a few possible solutions to the problem, but in the end the solution we stuck with was a system that took into account the intended target for the note and the target that the player had currently selected. If those two matched and the player shook at the right time (as the note indicator reaches the target), it would be interpreted as shaking instead of target selection. Problem solved!
It should be interesting to see how well this actually works.

So IGN is now claiming that the game sucks because the developers, for absolutely no reason, decided to seriously fuck up their much-labored control system between the lauded demos and launch for no reason other than shits and giggles. I'm disinclined to believe them because IGN is full of shit.

I tried to verify Zeta's claims, but IGN's site looks so unbelievably terrible that I couldn't stand looking at it for more than a few seconds without starting to hemorrhage.

Gay Gaymer gave it a good review, praising the graphics and fun factor and saying the finicky controls only came up during the Pose parts of the game on harder difficulty.

I hate inconsistent consensus. Especially on Wii controls. Especially on titles that are tempting me.

I don't usually rent, but... Oh, wait, I forgot, every rental store within fifty miles of my house shut down.

I notice most of the negative controller reviews are coming from people who played the Dreamcast version and don't seem to realize the DC Maraccas and the Wiimotes require significantly different playstyles for the same game.
