Yeah, they really tried hard to make him the permanent Olypmic mascot, but everyone was freaked out because it was impossible to figure out what the hell he was. I guess people prefer furries to a . . . thingy.

For those wondering about my hint earlier, yea, it is Sonic Rush 2. Don't bother bugging me about it though. I know nothing about it besides it's existence. I think it's pretty safe to assume it'll be for the DS though.
What? I didn't say that. *shifty eyes*

It's funny. When this game was first announced, a lot of the first reactions I saw on other forums were "I can't believe they're going to damage the integrity of the Olympics by associating them with crap like Sonic and Mario!"

Meanwhile, my first reaction was "I can't believe they're going to damage the integrity of Sonic and Mario by associating them with crap like the Olympics!"

I guess we all have different priorities.

He was the mascot for whatever year Olympics those were. Generally each Olympics in each country has its own unique mascot, as far as I know.

The Olympics are pretty cool, and videogames are pretty cool. Trying to shove them together means you're pretty much missing the point of both.

God, this whole thing is stupid. Why couldn't it be "Mario vs. Sonic in various sports with a stupid title"? Or, you know, some sort of fighting game, a brawl if you will, that throws a bunch of different characters together in one game and allows you to pit them against each other. That would be cool, too.

but I never got to try Izzy. Was it any good?
No.

I think the character was supposed to be some kind of permanent mascot or something and nobody cared so they never used him again.
I....I liked the game....

Also, as I recall, there was even a television special starring Izzy, in which he had to collect the Olympic Rings to save...something....

The Mario and Sonic game will probably have a story to the same effect....like Robotnik/Bowser trying to steal the torch. Or Sonic and Mario learning about sportsmanship or something.

Oh, and in the Last Story, the IOC president turns into a giant dragon and Sonic and Mario go super to stop him. Then everyone gets the gold medal. the endz.

These Super Smash Bros puns are more retarded than the Olympics.

You would have but you were always running away.

I still don't think that rhymes.

Yeah. I always ended up answering "That's so cliché!" because it rhymes so better.

Isn't this just another product of Naka leaving Sega? Didn't he say he wouldn't make a Mario/Sonic game because of "creative differences"? And isn't NiGHTS 2 just this year's 3D Sonic game? Isn't that the real reason there isn't an officially announced Sonic game in developement for the first time in who knows how long? Am I going to keep asking questions to bring my point across?

The Olympics are pretty cool
No, the olympics are stupid. I won't even capitalize it they're so stupid. Sonic and Mario are stupid now, but the olympics have always been stupid.

What does that even mean, "missing the point"? We shouldn't have sports video games?
God, this whole thing is stupid. Why couldn't it be "Mario vs. Sonic in various sports with a stupid title"?
You want them to compete in various sports, but you don't like the idea of them competing in... the Olympics.
Or, you know, some sort of fighting game, a brawl if you will, that throws a bunch of different characters together in one game and allows you to pit them against each other. That would be cool, too.
I fail to see how these are mutually exclusive ideas. Why would this game negate Sonic being in Brawl?

I wanted to make sure you'd feel comfortable with me.

I know the manly approach is to leap straight to conclusions from day one, but I'm gonna take the pinko commie approach and wait until there's some actual gameplay info to digest before making up my mind about this game.

This game just has an aura of closure around it. The rivalry between Sonic and Mario depended on the characters never being in the same game.

This seemed like something I originally didn't want to respond to, but since GG! keeps bringing it up...

What does GG! think of sports in general?
